I'd wash 2 or 3 times before hemming. And hemming with the original hem is easy. Google it; here's a tutorial I found. I thought why not and tried some on. AND THEY FIT! I asked the SA why she hadn't shown them to me when I was there before and she just said she thought they were 'mom' jeans. I don't think that they look like mom jeans at all, I'm really happy with them! They are solid dark wash again, but look SO much better on me than the Levi's.
