High contrast for me, mostly in terms of color combinations. I think of coral as one of my main spring colors, but realized recently that I really only want to wear it as accessories -- not clothing. I wear a lot of navy in spring so it makes a complementary (high-contrast) color combo. I was befuddled by this for a while -- how can coral be a "main" color if I don't actually have any clothing in that shade, and why can't I find any coral clothing for spring that feels right? But now I'm just embracing my preference!

Similarly I wear a lot of plum/purple in autumn but I don't need amethyst jewelry to wear with it -- instead, I want amber.

Interesting question! I think I tend to go for contrast, unless there is something else "loud" in my outfit.

My silver jewelry was higher contrast when my hair was dark. :)
I also wear colorful jewelry and scarves that go with the color of my clothing.

Yes, jewelry scale factors into it for sure too. A low contrast piece seems easier to wear in a larger scale (to me)-like high vamp shoes.

Depends on what I'm wearing. I don't like very shiny pieces, but I do like different jewel colors. I have several pieces with black that are high contrast with my pale skin, but look good with stronger colors.

Interesting question I haven't thought much about. I don't generally wear overly large or dramatic pieces, but I don't much like itsy delicate pieces either.

Blendy to medium contrast, I think... If I wear statement accessories, I feel like ‘regular me’ reached into the dress up chest (costume drawer? Like for carnival I mean) and added things for one of those picture booths in weddings, or ‘plays’ we used to perform as small kids :-).
Colorwise, I’ve been taking Imogen Lamports advice and building medium contrast outfits to follow my own coloring.

I would say I like my color choice to be blendy but the shapes or volumes to be statementy. As in a super-long necklace, a scarf that could double as a throw blanket, sunglasses either oversized or teeny, a ring that either looks like a piece of wire or covers my finger up to the knuckle....

Yes , interesting question indeed! I would say that my accessories are all pretty much statement -making. I don't wear small, tiny sentimental pieces or the same set of pieces everyday ....they are definitely picked to complete the outfit, thus being highly visible and part of the whole look.

Hmm, such an interesting question. I think I usually base it on whether I'm wearing a lot of colour or a more neutral outfit.

At the moment, the accessory I'm reaching most for is scarves - it's nearly Winter here in Australia and my office is already so cold I have to wear a scarf inside to avoid shivering. If my outfit is neutral or dark I'll usually wear a contrasting colourful scarf to add a pop of colour. But if my outfit is already colourful, I'll wear a scarf that complements it.

My personal colouring is high contrast (light skin, nearly black eyes and hair). I really don't know how much there is in the idea of repeating your persona; contrast in your outfits but I do notice I wear a lot of medium/high contrast outfits unintentionally.

@ChristelJ A lot of what I made wasn't my best colors (happy little magpie buys beads on Etsy) so I passed those pieces on. And colorful jewelry seemed harder to coordinate without being matchy matchy.
Oh PS -my friends bug spray sadly didn't help at all against flies on my "not even that swampy" hike yesterday Back to the Eco Armour!

What an interesting question. I've never thought about this before. My jewelry is mostly low contrast. Silver to blend with my grey-streaked brown hair and pale skin. I prefer a subtle effect with jewelry but my bags are often bright colors intended to pop.
Curious why you don't reach for your colorful jewelry lately; it sounds special being handmade. But the warm metallics sound lovely.

Quick poll to see if people are gravitating to low contrast or high contrast (to your coloring) jewelry and other accessories lately.

For me, it's been low contrast nearly all the time-though that wasn't the case a few years ago when I made a lot of jewelry. Lately, I haven't been reaching for my colorful pieces (except turquoise) and been sticking to copper, gold, brown, and amber. Same with shoes mostly-warm metallics or medium browns. Main non work bag-cognac. Scarves-I reach for the mid tone warm colors. Glasses/sunglasses-medium browns again. Easy to mix and match everything, and even a bunch of accessories don't feel like too much.

So-who's "blendy" and who's "statementy" with accessories these days?
