Oh boo!! I hate when people blatantly steal your ideas out from under you and then you look like the copier!

BronnieRose, sorry she got in first Your instincts were that it would be acceptable in your workplace. This is Brisbane, after all. I take this as a lesson in trusting that you know your own environmental norm better anyone.

UPDATE - I showed the photo to the ladies at work (there's only one guy!) and one of them promptly went out and stole the idea and bought the (bright) blue version!!!! Everyone (except me) squealed with delight (including the boss) when she wore them with a black skirt, white button down shirt and blue necklace!!!! Now I'll look like the copycat if I go and buy the ones I originally found! Happily, though, they still have a grey pair in my size which I am definitely buying to go with my grey pencil skirt and black slacks for winter. They seem to strike a happy medium for me. I only ever buy high heels with some sort of platform, although admittedly usually not quite as high as these - and they really are very comfy. I shall remember to post photos as evidence that they are OK......
BTW - the photo is of a pair of Kardashian heels that one of the brokers here wears to work regularly.........

I can see why you are drawn to these. I find them mesmerizing, but they really say loudly "sexy" to me, and to be frank, does that help you get a promotion or not?

Sorry, sweetie, but I've got to agree with the others. Those are cute shoes, but they're purple stiletto heels with a fish scale pattern and monster platform -- they scream 'party'!

ETA: that's not to say I think they're trashy. with the right outfit, and in the right setting, they'd be great.

I would not consider these appropriate in an office setting unless it was a fahion or art related setting on the creative side. Sorry...

I hope you are able to find a pair without the platform; then again, one of my colleagues wore a pair similar to these in black to the wards once. We giggled. :p

I will have to agree with the other ladies on this one. They are very hard to do even in a non-work environment so they would be really hard to style for work.

The heel print is beautiful no doubt (it even looks like it has a bit of texture to it, which is a plus), but I agree with MaryK... the covered platform is putting this one on the fence, teetering more towards the non-work friendly side. If these were non-platform pumps, they would really be a statement piece for any outfit.

Nope. Not even I would consider these appropriate for anything other than a VERY creative, anything-goes (think: fashion or entertainment related) workplace. For me it's the covered platform that puts them over the line into "yeah, slightly trashy for work."

When I worked in brokerage, a couple of girls wore heels like that regularly. They were both pretty short, though, so it didn't seem over the top. Take that with a grain of salt, since I think LA gets away with more than some cities as far as diverging from conservative looks.

Sooo...... I am thinking of these for my winter wardrobe (southern hemisphere here). I think they are utterly delicious and will fit into my wardrobe very comfortably, however the friend I was shopping with thought they looked trashy. Admittedly her workplace style (legal firm) is far more subdued than mine (small broking firm), and they would be a statement piece against sober work pants and top. I am seeking a career advancement, and don't believe something as small as shoes can affect this, but she insists they shouldn't go to work with me. They are a beautiful leather and not-quite-patent, but quite shiny. I have a Guess bag they will blend with well. They are also very comfy to wear in the shop.
Advice ladies?
