Meredith -- I usually go barefoot because I hate shoes and socks are so slippery that they are a slip hazards. I literally just bought these ugg slippers yesterday. They are being shipped by Amazon and I am really excited.

Merwoman -- I love, love the look of your capsule. I would love harem pants as well because they look comfortable. I collected them for future reference. Thanks so much.

Deb -- so nice to see you. I was wondering how you were doing. I'm so glad you have Zeus. Hope he brings you lots of joy.

Carter -- I wear cotton/modal lounge pants and jockey camisoles. I can't open the door in them because I rarely (never) wear anything over them due to the heat. That might change as I continue to develop my capsule.

Lyn67 -- It was a slow process for me as well. I worked on one capsule for one-two years before I was satisfied. When that capsule was complete, I started on a second capsule. Each capsule got easier because I had the system down and some of them like my lounge capsule and my athletic capsule don't really have that many pieces and I was starting from scratch so that made it really easy.

I'm so pleased that you're happy with your new loungewear capsule! I'm pretty happy with my F/W lounge capsule as well. Foot surgery last Fall was a great impetus to get it done right. My Summer loungewear was really piecemeal though. I'll have to focus on that next Spring. What do you wear for S/S loungewear?

This is a capsule I need to make. I really did not need it before but now I have to take Zeus out for potty walks and people see me. My sleep wear is just not cutting it.

Lovely lounge wear Sterling!
I was 'seduced' last fall by an ad from The Bay....'what do super models wear while lounging at home' asked the ad copy?
I bit and purchased the harem pants, tank, and cocoon topper. Not a super model but I love the comfort and style of these pieces.

Hi Style Fan. I understand not spending money on cashmere. This is the first year ever that I have had sufficient funds to buy cashmere for myself. The funds became available for a couple of reasons, (1) I was really pleased with my "work" capsule and didn't need to invest any more time/money on that capsule. I think I will continue to evolve it, but the backbone of that capsule is in place. (2) I wanted a capsule that I could wear around the house and still receive surprise guests without dying of embarrassment. I started working on my lounging capsule in late 2014. I found I loved that capsule the most. So I took money I would normally have spent on "work" clothes and bought one pair of cashmere joggers and two cashmere sweaters. I am happy wearing the same thing over and over and over again.

I started my lounge capsule by looking at A LOT of pictures. I picked two pictures and started working from there. You can buy really nice cotton/modal lounge pants. Start with plain grey. Look at Tommy Hilfinger. They are soft and quite nice. I have three pair and I love them.

I hope this helps.

My loungewear capsule is a bit pathetic. I do have sweatpants that would be an embarrassment if someone came over and DH has commented on them. I have some Lululemon Dog walking pants from a few years ago that I love. They are fleece lined and not tight. Unfortunately Lulu doesn't make them anymore. I have fleece leggings as well. Also a fleece jacket.
I would love a cashmere outfit to lounge in. I am not ready to spend that much money on a lounge outfit. Not sure what the alternative will be.

Having nice loungewear is important to me, and my current favorite outfit consists of comfy cashmere blend leggings and a lightweight cashmere sweater in a pretty soft turquoise. One problem I've found with cashmere knit leggings and pants is they tend to stretch out in the butt and crotch. For that reason, I lean toward cotton or cotton blends, like the cashmere cotton one.

I was never a loungewear type person - I just wear my PJs and a robe on lazy weekend mornings - but this year I've experimented with adding some pieces that work for what I think of as "loungewear-plus", or maybe "work-at-home-deadline-or-sick". Comfy knit pants or leggings, tunics, that sort of thing. Decent enough to wear outside the house to run to the store without being horribly embarrassed, but nothing confining or anything that feels like too much work to wear. It's been so warm I haven't really gotten a chance to try it out much yet.

Since I work at home I do have the problem that if I'm not feeling great or I'm intently working on a project, I sometimes do find myself realizing it's lunch and I'm still in my PJs, because I haven't taken the time to figure out a 'real' outfit. I don't mind it on occasion but it does discourage me from taking walks and getting out of the house, which I need to make sure to do.

I've been trying to up my game a bit in the loungewear department. For years it was yoga pants and thermal tees in the winter, but I've been replacing those with leggings, soft tunics, and long cardigans. I want to feel OK if a neighbor pops by or a package arrives. I'm a major nester, though, and I love long winter evenings by the fire. I really hope to put together a comfy, but stylish loungewear capsule.

I remember that about 10-15 years ago, plenty of women were wearing pajama pants to college classes. With a t-shirt (not a tee) and hoodie or sweatshirt. Not everyone liked seeing that, but it didn't really raise eyebrows. There was also the Juicy Couture velour phenomenon.

I wonder if the availability of real loungewear, as opposed to gear and sloppy pajamas, is a result of that particular generation growing up. They're accustomed to comfort, but have also learned the value of looking and feeling stylish as well.

Whatever the reasons, I love it!

Agreed! No baggy sweatpants and old tee shirt for me. I want to look (reasonably) attractive for my husband. I want to look presentable if someone stops by. And, in a pinch, I could run a quick errand in most of my loungewear if I had to. While some of my lounge wear is "demoted" (but still nice) regular clothing, most of it has been bought specifically for that purpose.

I too want stylish comfort! It is hot so much of the year here so its more linen and sometimes silk.... Paying attention to this is of course for us, but I remember having the thought that it is worth being somewhat luscious at home and worth spending money on this part of your wardrobe because this is what you wear with the people closest to you. Your cashmere options look lovely...

Did anyone see this article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fas.....-stylishly

It speaks to our desire to lounge in stylish comfort. I am not sure if the article was meant tongue-in-cheek, but I read it from a serious angle. I really do want to lounge in stylish comfort. I want my soul and body and to be bathed in fluffy soft cashmere.

Recognizing this, after my work capsules were solid and complete, I started developing my lounging capsule. I am in a happy place because nothing thrills me more then Friday TV Night with Take Out Food (it's a thing) or Sunday Morning Coffee with Friends in the Enclosed Porch. I wear my lounging capsule and I am perfectly happy. In fact, for the first time in my life I am spending more money on lounging clothes then work clothes. This has never happened in the history of Sterling. It is a development I did not see coming. I thought I was alone, but obviously a lot of other people have the same idea.

I was interested in what different people wore for lounging too. For example, "It means different things to different people, and remains a very individual consumer choice. To the Lululemon-clad pilates and yoga devotees, it should overlap with activewear; others choose to lounge in multipurpose sleepwear like palazzo-style pyjama bottoms and wrap cardigans."

Me, I'm more the cashmere jogger with lazy sweater. Lounging is the only time I will wear oversized or not-at-all fitted tops.
