Well, just joining the chorus here - I didn't even know about this event till Greyscale mentioned it. You really scored big. I love Quirky Shevia and am blown away by your ability to find amazing consignment treasures. We must meet up one day for wine and shopping!

Thank you!

Sara -my not so secret reason for loving cropped lengths is to show off my shoes, thank you.
Rute I want to know who those bloggers are!
Carole I am so glad the jacket is a hit, it was definitely an exciting find.
Rachy I have been curious to see something from the Row too. Particularly at Buffalo Exchange prices
Thanks Lyn, the thrift finds were a sweet suprise.
Aida love your comments, yes please post your Express jeans at different lengths. I think the low angle I took these pictures is not the best to judge the length and really need to a reshoot. I also like the black pants at the short length - but maybe I am swayed by the same Look as you.
Greyscale I will be wearing these sweaters when it gets below 70 - giving me a good 5 or so months a year. Running cold has its advantages I guess.
Denise thank you for the detailed comments! I mentioned above that I read somewhere that there will be a rerelease around Christmas, so you might have another chance. I do think the striped sweater runs bigger than the rest but I can live with the size. I did think of both shortening the Express jeans and the Acnes, and definitely intend to choose at least one pair of straights/skinnies to chop. A topic for another post with better pictures I think. Thank you for the jacket/shoe love - means a lot to me!
Brooklyn Quirky will never go away, but I am glad I have pushed it back a bit for now!
Angie we could almost be outfit twins at this point with the Express flares, Zara blue boots and striped sweaters! Or I should say I could almost be a (completely unashamed and quite proud) Angie copycat!

eta Una it's a date next time we find ourselves on the same coast :-)!

You look gorgeous. What a great haul. You have definitely moved away from quirky. I love all the LU sweaters on you. Particularly the first two. I think the length of the cropped flares looks right and I like how you are wearing them. And the jacket and bag - what great finds

I was stalking the Lemaire launch and started shopping the day before it launched, when I got the email. I had several things in my cart, then I got a work call/emergency and within 2 hours everything except the belted sweater was gone (among the things I wanted). I am so impressed with how many things you were able to order, I wonder if being on the East Coast helped?

Back to the topic of these pieces on you though. I like all of the Uniqlo pieces! I really wanted the striped sweater too as I'm a sucker for stripes, every single time. The striped sweater is the only thing that looks like it's too big.

As for the Express jeans, I like the length as is if worn as a column of color with higher heeled ankle boots. I'm assuming those boots you're wearing in 1 have a higher heel? When you wear the jeans with the pumps, I want them to be shorter (so I'm agreeing with Aida). I think you could shorten them just a little as long as they still work with those ankle boots. That way you could wear them with either shoe style and a sandal for warmer weather.

I love the Row pants at their longer length. The Balmain jacket is fab, who cares if it's authentic or not it looks amazing on you and the length looks so chic right now. The Ferragamos are making me drool and look perfectly on trend right now, in a classic way.

The Acnes look good, what do you think of shortening them? I've been so excited to (finally) find a tailor in my dinky town, I've sent 4 pants away and am loving them at cropped inseams, it's refreshing my look without having to buy a bunch of new pants.

Huh. I'm a little surprised that I'm the only one who thinks the Express crops need to be shortened just a smidge. These hit you about where mine hit me and I had been planning to take them up about an inch (whatever the length of the existing hem is, it looked perfect folded under once). Maybe I should post mine before taking them in for hemming ><

Ok back to you! WOW what a haul (also, there's more? yay!). The sweaters are great takes on "basic" sorts of pieces, but a little more interesting. They should also work really nicely to ground funkier pieces, if you wished to do so. I like the sweaters in #2 and 3 the most, both for their shape and their very current looking cropped length. Especially good with the high-waisted bottoms.

The Balmain jacket looks great from what I can see. Is it black or ink?

Totally adore the COS pumps! Love love!

Quite like The Row pants with the hem up, but hey that could just be because that's The Look these days.

I am envious because they don't seem to sell this one in Canada. ADORE the vintage Balmain, just WOW -- so proves Angie's remarks about the durability of the fabulous classic and its ability to work with different trends.

Thank you so much for your detailed replies - it was quite a lot of post to process.
Aliona - The color and details are hard to read in these pictures, but everything is what Angie describes as ink blue. Thank you for the shoe affirmation - it does seem to me that it is now or never for the Ferragamos.
Cheryl I read that there is going to be a re-release around Christmas. I hope so - limited releases make me nervous. Anyway, the cashmere blends are mostly wool but thick and soft. The v neck sweater is a thinner wool and more clingy. The rayon is not shiny and the wrinkles seem to fall out of it. Washability to be determined. Ask about anything, I checked out much more than I kept and kept more than I have posted.
Skylurker I had the feeling I double posted - once I upload I cannot open the picures to check until I post and then I don't want to anymore. All your comments are thoughtful, insightful and wise as ever. I agree that the boatneck is the best and the fit of the striped is the most boxy and possibly in need of a nip at the sleeves. Thanks you for your insight.
Cheryle thank you! I am very flattered!

eta - Thanks Jenn! French elegance is definitely a compliment to cherish!

(Pic #2 and #5 are the same).
You've met your goal, to inject some classic elegance : undistressed jeans, black trousers, blazer, navy sweaters, Varas...hey, a Inès de la Fressange make over No, no, I'm not mocking, since this is right up my style alley.
I would not shorten pants or jeans.
Ferragamos are classic.
The cropped flares look good worn the Angie-way (column of colour).
I would call the Acne straight, not skinny - whatever, they seem to fit well (I'm happy with the jeans I have from this brand : good quality).
I like the ink blue sweaters, with a slight preference for the boatneck.
The only item bothering me is the striped sweater : it's the rather large sleeves that are neither long nor 3/4...I have an itch to roll them up.

Thank you so much for showcasing the L/U pieces, Shevia. I've been wondering how they looked (clearly great!) and I'm very impressed at your shopping strategy. That NY trip was well timed! It's a bit hard for me to see the detail on the solid ink items on my small screen, but I'm liking the cut and length on you. To my eye the Ferragamos are classic and work perfectly for now. I just love the square heels on these and your wedding shoes. I personally wouldn't shorten the crop flares, but I do like them best with shoes that showcase the ankle. Very ankle fitted boots might work, too. And I'm positively drooling over your Balmain pea coat. Great find on the bag, too!

This is a long one - feel free to skip to the pictures of course. Basically I have been going through a lot of reevaluation lately along with a lot of external events and activity. My style aspirations tend to swing between elegance and quirkiness and I felt I had swung a bit too far toward the latter with my steady stream of prize possessions from the second hand shops.

So when I first read that Uniqlo was doing a collaboration with Lemaire I was very intrigued. I had previously picked Lemaire as my favorite designer to wear and here was the chance to actually test that. When the lookbook came out, and especially when I realized that the collection featured navy (actually turns out to be ink blue, which is even better for me - thank you Angie), I began a major initiative to sell off all my overly complicated, quirky and hardly worn designer second hand finds to finance a major buy out of this collaboration. Although it may seem ridiculous to sell designer clothing to buy a fast fashion collaboration, it made sense to me. Rest assured, there are plenty of quirky pieces left in my closet as you will see below.

Anyway, the whole thing couldn't have been timed better to coincide with our trip to New York for our nephew's wedding. Since the on-line sale started in my morning, I was bright eyed and ready to pounce and ordered up a storm. At SIL's house I made a quick cut of most non-blue things I ordered (the green is very nice but not great on me), and still brought back quite a haul - this is just part one. I had also ordered the Express cropped jeans that Angie recommended (she said they would work for the shorter among us!) and I mixed it in with a few second hand finds below.

Final note, DD ace photographer was otherwise occupied and my tripod has gone missing. Please forgive the less than ideal angle and horrifying cutting off of shoes in some pictures.
Ok as for the pictures:
1. L/U ink v neck sweater, Express cropped jeans, thrifted Daniella Lehavi high shaft booties that deserve more attention in another post.
2. L/U square sweater same jeans and shoes.
3/4. L/U striped cropped sweater, new to me Acne high waisted skinnies (also a topic for another post) AND Ferragamo Varas that have been in my closet for 5 years - it seems like now is the time to break them out.
5. L/U rayon top with the Acne jeans.
6. Quirky find - vintage Balmain jacket (I can't strictly authenticate, but it is definitely vintage and the label looks real), perfectly current Marc by Marc Jacobs bag mysteriously sold for $15 at local consignment shop, black pants by The Row found during the precisely 45 minutes I was given to scour Beacon's Closet last week, Senso loafers.
7/8. To better show off the Express cropped flares and COS shoes bought for wedding but not worn in the end.
9. The Row pants with the hem turned up.

Please feel free to comment and question. Should I shorten the flares? the black pants? Are the Ferragamo shoes current looking? Jeans look ok? anything else? Thanks for looking!
