I am so sorry for your loss. </p> <p>I recently read something about a child explaining why dogs have shorter lives than we do. And he said that we have to stay long enough to learn how to be good. Since dogs know that already, they don't have to live as long. I know this is a huge loss for you and I'm sorry you're going thru it. Our fifteen year old golden retriever died two summers ago and it was very painful. One thing that helped us is having a portrait made of her. It now hangs in our kitchen eating area, and we are continually reminded of our wonderful memories with this loving friend.
