It seems strange to think of spring dressing, or even fall with our stifling heat and humidity. I feel like I'm living in soup. It is interesting that the shops are showing skinny and slim pant silhouettes. I am seeing wide crops on the Rack clearance racks and wonder if they didn't sell well here this spring.

Thanks Sally. I'm in Auckland which theoretically should be warmer but I'm feeling cold. I wore jeans with just a sweater today so maybe there is hope.
There seemed to be a lot of stone and blush in the shop for the new season..actually I love the blush pink but don't normally suit pink. The new season trousers all appear to be skinny or slim pants but a range of colours. I bought some navy chinos and some black and white midweight slouchy pants but they were all last season and on sale. I got them from espirit which I don't normally have much luck with. I also got black joggers which I could dress up or down from cotton on. They weren't on sale. I'm definitely getting a pair of lace up flats for spring to wear with trousers. I love them. I'm also on the lookout for a light wash denim jacket.

Interesting. So spring is a newly recognized category of clothing, almost, despite the fact that it is a real season for you. That was true for me as well before I came to YLF. Our springs are ridiculously short to almost nonexistent some years (we go from winter direct to summer, it seems) -- yet the light changes, and the feeling in the air changes, even if the temps remain similar, and I do feel a need to switch things up at that time.

Haha Sally here.

It is erratic but Spring goes from Sept to November. However today in July I biked in short bike pants, a tee and a very light wind jacket. MY legs were bare from the knees to my short ankle socks. It is mid winter. Yet last Sunday I was in a ski jacket, a puffer, a beanie, gloves, a turtleneck, jeans, boots and thick socks!!

November can range hugely in temperatures too from sundress weather to sweater jeans and boots. Our summer won't be as warm as yours but our winter is not as cold either - it is different if you are in the South Island though.

I could wear Spring clothes most of the year with a few adjustments. I don't think about buying Spring clothes though - I tend to think of winter and summer.

I have noticed our northern forum members wearing block heel sandals and ankle straps, cropped jeans and pants, a variety of lengths in tops, white jeans, more midi length dresses.

Spring is quite a long season here in the Waikato so I am starting to cotton on to purchasing more mid weight clothes....I am hoping we see more variety in colours for the season although I am not awfully partial to the rusts and toffees I have seen.

I think you could wear cropped pants very well Sally. If you want to of course.

Thanks Suz. I meant to say I'm not into the cropped look but I cuff my trousers. I'm really into the slouched look now as a new silhouette for me and found a pair of navy slouchy chinos which were reduced. Also got white sneakers. Will update with photos soon. Love the tomboy look so definitely my season!

Here's what Angie suggested:

http://youlookfab.com/2016/03/.....mmer-2016/

But there are more, related posts, on footwear and specifics for how to wear various trends: http://youlookfab.com/category/spring/spring-2016/

For my own style, the cropped raw edge jeans were important for fall/ spring and the footwear updates are always key to summer.

I've noticed the spring wear in the shops and catalogues over here and will look around the shops today. From those that have done the season in the north, what are must haves for the coming spring/summer season? I don't know if I'm into the cropped look though into often cuff my jeans.
