Just coming back to this thread and seeing those jeans (if these are indeed what you're looking at, and similar to a pair I'm all about now) are US$118 -- the CDN prices are evil!!!!

Ha - HUGE POOFer here reporting for duty. I know exactly what you mean. I cannot with those teenager super duper high rises either. Midrise all the way for me. It's just interesting how weird a low rise looks to me now . Anyways - I hope you are feeling better - we all have fashion and body meltdowns at one time or another. Some of us, more often than others. *Cough.Me *. I'm waiting until August to shell out too. I've got my eye on a pair of Pilcro Stets in washed grey at Anthro. They'll probably be long gone by then, but I can't bring myself to shell out $250 for them right at the moment. I'm over clothes . Too much mental energy and distress over them . Ha.

Thank you again! Filing all specific suggestions for August, when I am likely to shell out real dollars for a new pair of jeans for the fall.

But, Janet and Diana and Lisap and the rest of you: I'm another short-waisted woman who really struggles with both low and high-waisted pants. I have a pair of demi-bootcut crops from JCrew that are high-waisted, and they are JUST workable when I stand. BUT when I sit, they dig into my ribcage and also create a HUGE POOF at the belly, only some of which is actual belly. SO uncomfortable and unflattering. I'm totally dedicated to a midrise.

I recently tried these and can recommend them. Even sizing down, they feel slim without feeling constricted. They are sold out on Shopbop, but I have size 30 in my possession and will be returning them. I think some are still available on the 3x1 site.

Thanks all. I have to admit to feeling squirrelly about my body and about fashion this weekend so I think I really was looking for jeans that would FEEL good - not constricting. Angie's CE cropped straights came closest to what was in my head. I ended up buying at consignment - for $8 - a pair of Lucky cropped wide legs, or maybe short BFs. Anyway, the effect, in terms of feel, is what I was after. They will tide me over for now.

The AG Nikki's worked for me like crazy for a while but ultimately had a terrible rear view for me and one that was quite out of sync with the close-ish thighs. I didn't like the look, but maybe they stretched out oddly from so much wear.

What I was hoping for was a pair I would love and wear as much as the Nikki's.

Doesn't surprise me that I was inarticulate - I was not in a great place. But thanks for all of your ideas.

I have some Paige jeans that I like. They fell out of favour for awhile but redeemed themselves. I think it might be because I washed them differently. Who knows. They are between mid and high rise. Dark wash but not total dark wash. They are called Porter. They were expensive but I needed them. Yes needed.

I like my R&B dress and my gap girlfriend jeans.

I sold my Nikkis because I found the fabric to be too stretchy, but that's just a weird quirk of mine. Otherwise I liked them and would consider buying them in a less stretchy fabric. What about them did you not like?

(Eta: I'm in Janet's camp as another short waisted person. I hate both the look and feel of high rise jeans on me, especially when I sit down and they shift up to crush my rib cage.)

I like to have both in my closet. Higher rise for wearing with shorter tops, would never tuck though. And I prefer a good amount of stretch in higher rise do they are smoother over the tummy. I also like mid rise for wearing with a belt, semi or full tucking and for little or no stretch. I hope both rises continue to be available!!

Small jeans rant: I have a very, very limited tolerance for high rise jeans. With my short torso, I really hope that mid and lower rises don't disappear. I don't care how trendy high rises are -- they look horrible on me and make it impossible to tuck or semi-tuck.

Lisap - I didn't think much about rise, but I am pretty tired of too low rises. I like the fit of high rise until I need to sit, or I look at my booty in them (high rise tends to take me to mom Jean land, which may work for others, but I must say no to). Therefore, mid rise is my friend. At least at this point.

I'm just skimming the R&B's on Shopbop and many of them look pretty low-waisted now - through today's eyes. There is a Citizen pair next to a R&B pair, and the rise is markedly different and more current looking. I know it's all a matter of opinion and that there is no right answer, but I sure notice how out of date low rise jeans now look. There is a blogger I sort of follow - just through Insta - who still wears these low rise jeans with every thing she posts, and they look positively odd now compared to a dressier mid-rise. Funny how things can change so abruptly.

I'm watching this thread. I have never tried on the Dre's, but kind of regret not trying them last NAS, as I liked the color of those. I like distressing, but am tired of ripped jeans. Slouchy but streamlined is sometimes a tough combo to find, especially as many premium brands are cut too narrow for me.

As a matter of fact...I am loving the updated Gap Real Straights. They have that slim boyfriend thing going on...mid rise, slim but plenty roomy through the thighs, narrower leg opening than previously so they work better rolled or full length with shoes too cute to hide under a pant leg. And the rear view...almost enough to make you want to walk backwards;-)

I got them in dark wash and white, but there's a mid wash too.

I'm on the hunt for a pair of jeans as an alternative to skinnies and fitted cropped flares -- pretty much, this year's AG Nikkis. I want something a bit less roomy than my full-on Gap BFs.

So, I want ..

.. a BIT of slouch
.. room for thighs
.. no holes or rips
.. mid-rise
.. acceptable rear view

Any recommendations?
