I found a few at Ann Taylor Loft a while back, and I really like them. They're soft, and the fit is great-- body-skimming, but not tight!

Teri, here's the link to the thread Donna mentioned:

http://youlookfab.com/2011/11/.....ring-tops/

I bought the INC turtleneck and wish I'd bought more, because now there are no longer any sizes available other than XL. I'm from Team Giraffe Neck, and love this one, as well as the way it fits.

Hope you find one you like!

For tees I really like the ones Angie recommended from Ann Taylor (scoop neck or crew long sleeve). I have a turtleneck from LandsEnd Canvas I like (modal cotton blend), one from Esprit, and some older Gap ones. I don't see any of these online at the moment.

Angie blogged on this: Nov. 10, 2011, "13 Great Layering Tops." It is in the archives. She addresses the length issue. Based on her recommendation, I bought the Caslon T from Nordstrom. Actually, I bought seven. They are all cotton so don't spring back after a wear or two like they would if they had lycra. Still wonderful and very soft. I am considering trying two together just for kicks.

I like Land's End for basics. I also bought some T-shirts at J. Crew recently that I really like:

T by Alexander Wang has really nice basics (tees and turtlenecks). The line of basics are soft and stretchy, but retains shape and they hold their form well. Shopbop currently has a sale on some of the tops, so you should check it out when you have a chance.

I had a really good luck this year with turtlenecks from Talbots. http://www.talbots.com/online/.....UnderSale=
Unfortunately, these are now almost sold out but the stores might still have some colors and sizes left. The quality is very good and they can be worn alone (the knit is quite substantial). They are slightly above basic because of the ruching at the neckline but still fairly simple.

Seconding Mango. Am a rectangle too, though a shorter one. Especially like the raglan-sleeved sweaters they have with a tighter rib knit from waist down and a looser or cabled knit on top, which helps with nipping the silhouette in at the right place.

Hello! I've spent more time than I care to mention looking for basic t's and turtlenecks. I'm a healthy active rectangle, 5'8. Need something with stretch that isn't boxy, formfitting but not tight. Something thick enough to wear alone but layer able. I like my turtlenecks to fit snugly on my neck and I need some length in the waist/hip area. Can anyone help me get some precious time back by steering me to a good brand?
