Yes, Angie, I found that out! I hobbled in there, with my Band-aid and Neosporin, but I did relish the Gucci and AGL (more flat) shoes I tried on. So, it was a nice diversion and I had to buy a lip pencil, too.

Thanks rachylou, and appreciate the confirmation on the Sarto loafers, Tina.

kkards, those are nice and very similar to the Rebecca Minkoff ones. I'll check out the link.

Angie, your Sarto Jolette loafers are beautiful and they look like something that may work. Tomorrow, when I go to Nordstrom, I'll try them on. Comfort is essential in my world. Still, there are those times I am tempted by style over comfort and that's when I lose my way.

UmmLila, thanks for the confirmation on Paul Green shoes. That was a great story about your "waterproof" sneakers.

JAileen and Karen13, thanks so much and Karen the denim jacket was purchased several years ago from Nordstrom, in the children's department, and is from Benetton Jeans.

Shevia, your words always mean so much and it's always fun to pop in and get some help when needed and help others, too.

Thanks, AndiB, those are really pretty, but not budget-friendly.

Lisap, I appreciate your sweet words and I haven't done any modeling in a couple of years but did want to reactivate the status with my agency and had some new photos taken. The drive to Los Angeles for a five-minute audition isn't fun, but the work is enjoyable when you can get it. Geox, you say? I'll take a look.

RobinF, patent mules are one way to keep the feet happy.

Yes, generally, I like the high shine of patent on a loafer, which looks dressier, but a better alternative for me may be a high-shine leather, if I can find it and if I can find it with the appropriate heel. You have all given me a lot of good advice here so thank you very much.

Wow, too bad. Those are gorgeous and beautiful on you. I have some patent mule-loafers that are really soft but in general I agree that it's usually quite stiff. Good luck finding a replacement.

I'm flabbergasted at the photos - but see you have a professional taking them . I didn't realize you did some modelling , but it makes sense ;). The only patent loafers I've had that were not heel killers are from Geox . More like a driving shoe though and not quite like the ones you bought . Patent is a dodgy material to get right .

Vicki, you look gorgeous in those photos. I see why you want to get a facsimile of the loafers. I think patent is the key element there, since the shine brings a bit of a spring tone to the look, where regular black might be too wintry. I like the look of the Paul Green shoes that Viv recommended -- I have three pairs of Paul Green (not loafers) and none has ever given me a moment of pain.

I agree that it's good to ask for exceptions to policy sometimes. I once bought a pair of high top sneakers that advertised themselves as waterproof. And I needed them to be waterproof for my field-and-stream walks with Reedy. Well, my feet were soaked after one walk through dewy grass and I shared photos of my drenched shoes and socks and got a refund.

Gorgeous suggestions and appreciation to you Viva, Mochi and Tanya, for your stellar feedback.

Yes, even though patent is always so pretty, I'd better back away while I can so I won't be enticed again. Viva, I did a photo shoot to update my photos with my agency. While I didn't like the hair and makeup done, some of the photos turned out fairly well, including the one you commented on. Thank you. Nancy, it wasn't so much the heel digging in as a "slipping" problem and putting in that adhesive insert stopped the slipping, but was so rough on the inner right heel that I've got a blister the size of a quarter that I'm mending. I'm still going to Ecstatic Dance tonight in Laguna Beach, though, because I'll have a band-aid on and will be wearing ballet slippers (most dancers go barefoot, but that's "not my thing.") Tanya, sadly the BR loafers aren't available in my 7-1/2 to 8 (are they TTS?).

I just looked at the store pic for that shoe. The back looks like it's actually pointing inward, letting me easily imagine it digging into that part of the foot. So I'm wondering if patent leather is the problem...or this specific loafer's design....

I can recommend a BR pair I bought earlier in the spring. The footbed is very soft and padded. The leather is on the thicker side. After a couple of initial wears when I used Blister Stick just in case I can now comfortably wear them without socks with no issues. The heel is a bit lower then your initial pair though. I got leather, but they also come in patent.

Oh, Vicki. Those are the holy grail of loafers. I love that heel height! Tanya just posted the pair below earlier today. They are from Paul Green, whose footwear I have always found to be extremely comfy (in my limited experience) -- but they are indeed patent. I'm also including my Halogen loafers, which I love and which are super comfortable (right out of the box) but they are not heels - just a slight platform. Good luck!

I fell in love with these Rebecca Minkoff Edie Tassel Mid Heel Loafers with an almond-toe and stacked heel in black patent, but after wearing them for only one day my back heel was destroyed with a terrible blister! Needless to say I was concerned that the store may not allow me to return them since I’d worn them outside for a day. So, before attempting to do so, I reached out to Bloomingdale’s and Rebecca Minkoff in a private message on Facebook and to bolster my case, even sent a photo of my blistered heel. Fortunately, Bloomingdale’s accommodated me and they were very kind about the return. Now I’m left wanting to replace this pretty pair of loafers but I have to remind myself that I cannot buy anything that’s patent leather, because the shoes are usually stiff and do not give as well as leather. At first wearing, these seemed soft in the footbed, but it was the back heel that was an issue for me, slipping even when I tried it on in the shoe department. I generally do not buy a pair of shoes if I have to start inserting products in the shoe even before leaving the store. But, I loved these so much, I decided it was worth a try. This wasn’t a good idea and I am in heal mode due to the heel.

I considered traditional loafers, but those seemed clunky and boring. I do like the stacked heel version. One of the problems with this pair was that my heel did slip and the sales associate inserted heel grips in the shoe, which was part of the blister-causing problems. Perhaps the heel is just too high for my low volume feet.

If any of you have recommendations on super comfortable loafers that look anything like these, I would love to know. I’m including photos but I won’t include the injured heel photo I sent to them. Thanks for any leads you may have.
