They look versatile to me. A lot depends on how closely the calf and ankle fit your leg, and whether it leaves a little room for jeans underneath. To my eye, the boot like this one with heels looks better with skirts. It's a great looking boot. That being said, my criteria for tucking is really whether or not it has a full zip. The Wanted boots in <a href="http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/wiw-314-inspired-by-dani">this</a> post are my faves because of the full zip and not too snug fit around the lower leg. If there is enough room to tuck there often is too much gap for skirts.
