Ornella, that is a great idea. I'm going to start a new thread with attn. to Greg and Angie. It might not be a difficult addition. Of course it is always possible to click on people's profiles to find out that info (if they have posted it) but if these little icons appeared along with our roles near our avitars, people would have quick insight.

This thread reminds me of the idea I had a while back, about adding icons or something else that represent our body types somewhere around the profile photos. I think that would help, especially for the new starters who probably want to check how experienced forum members of the same body types create outfits.

Oh this thread is still going! ( I have been away on holiday for a week)
Sona, the YLF person who I think matches you best hasn't been around for a few months, but you could try having a look at her threads - she is called Shana.

Kat - might we be twins? Trying to remember from what you have said. I also have a swayback/ curvy bum

Hey Sona I am with you on the big boobs, big shoulders and skinny bottom half. I don't have a tummy but I tend to camoflauge my middle with jackets, layers, and belts because I am short waisted. I have found that Jessica from What I Wore has a similar body shape (though she is quite long and lean she has a larger bust, broad shoulders, IT, and short waist).

I've often wondered about this, as I look at others' outfits and am inspired to try new looks -- I find myself wondering, "but would that work on me?"

Erin, you and I are height/inseam twins! I joke that all my height is in my legs.

I tend to pay close attention to what other hourglass/pear ladies are doing, but the truth is, two supposedly "pear" shapes can differ quite a bit -- I'm one of those with no booty whatsoever -- I appear smaller from the side than from the front! Obviously some things will look much better on one kind of pear and not another.

Sona, regardless of size if the body shape and proportion is the same, I think the same styling rules apply. And as I will be posting, I just scored a Theory dress at the consignment store in a size 12. Notice me almost always choosing to surrender my so-called waist, because I don't have the abs to suck it in all day. I often take the classic salwar-kameez silhouette and translate it to tunic and skinnies for that reason.

You are gorgeous, girl!

Sona, no worries. I'll pass along to you what Angie said to me when I was asking about a formfitting dress and my shall we say "swayback"(shelf of a) bum..... 'it just depends on how comfortable you are showing your curves...Its a formffitting dress that will accentuate your swayback. BUT THAT IS NOT A BAD THING BECAUSE ITS WHO YOU ARE. AND WE LIKE WHO YOU ARE' (emphasis mine). I have to say that it made me re-evaluate my appraisal of what my body looks like in clothes and what I need to hide or emphasize. Its my body. Its fine (all of it). I should just get dressed in things I like and be open-minded about trying things.

because its who you are and we like who you are.

perfect wisdom from lovely Angie. just something to think about.

I love you guys! Its just that I think I have such a bigger belly than all of you gals. I wear a medium or large in tops and 10 or 12 in bottoms. I would love to be able to wear a 4 or a 6 but that is not happening!

For example I jsut cannot tuck anything in - as my lower abs are quite wide. Anything fur would make me look like a linebacker. My husband doesn't like me in wide dolman sleeves because I look like a quarterback then. Every once in a while I get the 'how far along are you 'comment.

Ok no more pity party. I just have to learn to apply looks to my own particular shape issues.

I also think that this is a good idea. I haven't gotten the courage yet to post my pick in the body type section but I struggle with how to dress my shape. I think I must be shorter in the torso as all low rise pants come almost to my belly button and I'm 5'7 with a 34" inseam.

( like a style yin/yang...like I do for my kids when I have one who loves meat and shuns carbs and one who is vegetarian...we get one meal and divide it up) I can wear all your too narrow shouldered tops and you can have all the non-bum-accommodating bottom halves.....

Actually, what would be really cool is if YLF did a survey and we all filled in our body shapes/modifiers and a standard set of measurements (bust, height, waist, hips).

All this data gets stored in a YLF database under the highest levels of security. :)

An automated script then matches up people by body type and physical dimensions and sends participants a list of their body doubles.

Sona, I'm an IT that basically fits your description. What size do you wear up top and in bottoms? I tend to be a 6 or M on top, and a 4 or 6 in pants, depending on brand. Wide shoulders, straight through the middle, skinny legs, no hips or booty. Hmm, that's not sounding appealing but we both look way better than it sounds!

Well actually Sona, I'm not big busted, but I'm an apple with kind of broad shoulders, and I always love to click on your WIW posts because I consider you one of my style twins, since we both are doctor moms!

MaryK is definitely my style big sister! I wanna be just like her!
