Thank you, everyone! It's sort of a moot question at this point-- I got to try on both the lower-end sweaters I was considering, and neither fit right. Guess I'll have to wait until I'm near a brick-and-mortar J.Crew or Land's End!

I have the one that JennyAnne linked to and absolutely love it. The neckline is just a tiny bit wider than a typical crewneck and very flattering. I've had it for about three months and it's worn well so far. And today it is 25 percent off, so just barely over your budget

I really like the sweaters I've bought at Lands End, and I have several from TJ Maxx. I've been less happy with sweaters I've bought at Old Navy and Target. Depending on where you live, yellow might be harder to find this time of year. Are you looking for a true yellow or more of a muted yellow?

I've had really good luck with J Crew sweaters. They're aren't usually under $40, but here's a merino one for $70 in mustard.

Hello, ladies! This seems like a silly question, but here goes:

I'm looking for a yellow crew or scoopneck pullover. Though I've been hoping to find something in a thrift or vintage store, I haven't had much luck, so I'm turning to ready-to-wear shops. I don't shop retail very often, so I have no idea where to look!

If I were to have a slim budget for this, say under $40, how could I best deploy it? I know that any cheap garment I buy is likely to sag or stretch or pill faster than a higher-end one, but is there any difference, say, between buying a $18 Target sweater or $26 Loft one or a Would I do better to steer clear of cheap cotton and pick synthetics, or the other way around? Who makes the best inexpensive things?

While I'd love to buy $300 merino garments that would last for decades, I can't quite afford it at this stage of life. I'd still like to get the best cost-per-wear out of my clothes as I can at my piddly price point, though! :)

Thank you so much!
