Paul Green.

I have medium volume feet with high arches and a somewhat narrow heel and ankle. My feet must have great arch support and, because of bad knees, I do best with a 2" or 2-1/2" heel. I can wear somewhat lower, but not flat. My PG booties fit so well I can, literally, walk in them all day. Because of the bad knees, I don't walk all day very often, so that I can do so in those booties says a lot!

I have other booties I enjoy quite a lot--my Eileen Fisher is very good--and I'm always on the lookout for another great bootie.

The only boots I "need" now are tall boots that are dressy enough to wear with nice dresses but that have a low heel and come in a wide width. I'm not doing an active search, though. I've already spent my wad this year.

I didn't get too excited at the booties for NAS. I will be looking IRL before ordering online, and may need to wait a bit for stores to get their fall selections.

I'm quite certain I could walk long distances in all of my Clarks, Dansko and Alegria boots. I'm not sure about the others, as I haven't tested them. They all do quite well for moderate walking, though, and I must point out that I have bunions as well as intermittent pain in my feet (sometimes ankles, sometimes toes, sometimes up through the middle of my foot). Like I said, I have foot problems. They just haven't figured out what's causing the shooting pain.

Rockport. I have bought Aquatalias, Munro, La Canadienne, Clarks, Blondo . . . If it was a comfort brand, I tried it. After breaking my foot and ankle, only boots my foot would tolerate were Rockport.

My favorites are Reiker that I bought about a year ago. (find 1) Wore them a LOT and they are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned hands down. After 6 months of wearing a couple of times a week they don't show much wear, not even on the back of the right heel which tends to wear out first when you drive every day. Very soft leather.

Also another vote for the Lucky Basel that Gail showed (#2) , also super comfortable although they are starting to look a little lived in. I would buy another pair of these in a heartbeat, and may try another color this year. The shape IS noticeably a "western" vibe. I see this model on sale at various times in various colors.

Also want to echo Suz about Franco Sarto. Not really a "comfort" brand but I have a pair (#3) that just won't die and are quite comfortable for a lot of walking.

I have low volume feet with average width overall, narrow circumference around the arch/instep, and average-to-wide ball of foot area. I also need some arch support and some overall padding in shoes. I prefer a heel under 2" for lots of walking. For comparison, I absolutely cannot wear ballet flats of any kind, they are not comfortable.

I have two pairs of Lucky booties that I can walk all day in .They have lots of colors. However I am looking for a higher shaft bootie that I could wear all day with a low heel. I have very skinny ankles and calves which poses a huge problem, I want them to wear with my cropped jeans in the fall and maybe some of the winter.

I am on the lookout for new boots as well. I have a pair of Merrills that are 7 years old. Perfect but almost done. The new Merrills do not compare. They have changed the way they make them. I also have Fryes that are wonderful. Mine are 11 years old. I am not sure if they still make them the same. I tend to do well with Reiker. I use to love Franco Sarto but haven't tried them recently. I may give them another go. I have a pair of Timberland knee high boots that have done well.
El Naturalista is another favourite brand of mine. Hard to find but worth it for comfort. If you want real comfort there is Trippen. My Trippen boots are amazing and for me to say that is something.
I take size 8 to 8.5. Medium width. Medium volume. My feet look nice but they cause me a lot of pain. If there is a foot problem out there I have it. Nerve damage, plantar fasciitis, arthritis, etc.
I agree with Suz about changing footwear daily. It makes a big difference.

This is the tricky thing...sometimes the cheaper shoes turn out to be workhorses that really hold up. As Angie says, leave no retail stone unturned. You just never know. I've been astonished at the Topshop shoes I bought this year in terms of comfort. There might be other quality issues (like scuffing metallic) but boy oh boy they are comfy.

RobinF - I had a pair of b.o.c. Moto boots that were good enough to duplicate. They weren't high end, but for some reason they worked. They were a great shoe that could take a beating. My last vacation I took them and threw them away before I got back on the plane. I babied them along just to make one last trip.

I have high volume feet, so my buying choices are more limited. I don't buy overly expensive boots. I like Clarks, Dansko, David Tate and Alegria ankle boots. My tall boots are Sofft and Earth. I added insoles with arch supports to all but the Dansko & Alegria boots.

My absolute favorites are some cheapie moto boots from J C Penney. I wore them for all day-every day walking on a January trip to Europe and they were super comfortable. I bought them a half size larger than normal and wore slightly thick socks. Unfortunately they aren't real leather and are looking pretty worn so I am on the lookout for replacements. I have somewhat narrow feet, but not narrow enough for narrow sizes.

Ditto what Suz said in her first post. My most comfortable boots are Aquatalia, ECCO, Franco Sarto and La Canadienne ( the best of all). My feet need some support and are fairly low volume. Like Suz, I rotate any footwear so as not to wear the same two days in a row. My La Canadiennes have seen nearly 8 years of heavy wear and have travelled 3 continents and are still very comfortable. They were a find online but worth every penny of their regular price. Mine come above the ankle and are grey suede lined with Gortex. My feet are always warm and dry but never too warm.

ETA, I often find Clarks too wide (not all styles) and ditto for Borns. So that info might be useful.

I added a few styles that have worked for me up in the earlier post.

The one problem with the Franco Sarto is that it was loose on the ankle. I found that my heel slipped a lot and my foot slid forward as a result. So I probably won't get it re-heeled (as I would have to, to keep) but will look for something with a snugger ankle fit.

Chelsea boots are brilliant for that because they have the elastic gore.

My feet are fairly high volume (high arches, high instep, wide forefoot, narrow heels). I have two pairs of Timberlands that are incredibly comfortable. The knee high pair is probably 8 years old and I will literally not ever get rid of them till they disintegrate on my feet.

I have regular volume feet that are wider at the toe than the heel. I wear a medium width, but the style of the shoe or boot makes a difference, since some won't cup my narrow heel well enough.

Angie introduced me to Naot boots (until then, I'd only worn their sandals). They have loads of lovely options, and are made to be super-comfortable. I tried a few and fell in love with this one:

http://www.zappos.com/naot-foo.....-raven-lea

I haven't yet, but I'm pretty sure I could walk a whole day in these!

I have a medium volume foot. High arches/ instep (so I like something that has some support there and a completely flat shoe drives me bonkers ), a very narrow heel, medium width forefoot.

My ideal boot has a block heel of about 2 to 2.5 inches. I can also do a 3/4 to 1.5 inch heel if it is beautifully made inside and follows the shape of my foot. Three inches is do-able but not an all day walking boot.

I walk a lot. And I like to wear my regular shoes to do it unless we're talking a serious hike of some kind. I do have weather concerns where I live so I also have snow boots, and need some boots that are weather proof.

My go-tos:

Ecco. Usually a superb fit for me, but a few styles too wide.

La Canadienne.

Aquatalia: I love the moto boot I own, although it was marginally too large and I did put an insert against plantar fasciitis in it.

Munro: is a bit on the narrow side but very well made and comfortable.

Stuart Weitzman

As you can see, these are all fairly pricey, alas, although the Eccos are less so.

A slightly less pricey brand that can also work well for me sometimes is Franco Sarto. Nice and lightweight, flexible. I got one style at the NAS last year that I pretty much wore out.

Also, unaccountably -- a few cheaper brands can sometimes be brilliant (and other times, horrendous -- so try-ons are crucial) --

Zara
Topshop

My best tip is to own more than one pair of booties/ boots and alternate. For me, a change is as good as a rest. My feet are happier if they get some variety and it's good for my outfits, too.

I like my Blondos, although part of that is that they are waterproof and have good traction on icy surfaces, neither of which it sounds like you need. However, they are super comfy and I often will wear them all day even when the weather is not wet or snowy.

The ones below are the ones I have, although there are many styles including some that look more refined but have less traction on the sole. I'm probably going to get a second pair this winter.

My feet are extremely low-volume, narrow at the heel but medium-ish in front due to bunions. I usually add a superfeet insert or other supportive insole (which I do with almost all of my shoes) - my feet are pancake flat though, I think the support in the shoes themselves would probably be fine for more normal feet. I also have pretty much zero padding on the bottom of my feet so I can't do very hard or unpadded soles - the ones in my Blondos are very comfy.

I've seen some Ecco and uggs I like the looks of. I will take a look at Bogs. I've had a tough time finding the right size for Reiker. The biggest size seems to short when I've tried them in a store. Aquatalia is one I'd like to look at, although quite spendy. I'll see if NAS has anything from them that meets my specs.

Aquatalia is worth a try, as is Munro, Ecco and Reiker. Check for removable insoles if you prefer to add your own. I do- my foot is low volume enough to often be able to work around non-removable ones, but always prefer to start with an empty shoe.

Good luck.

I have semi-wide, high volume feet. The front of my foot is wider, but I do not have bunions or other issues. Munro shoes/boots are dreamy for my feet, though it can be difficult to find a style sometimes. Many of their styles tend to be a little bit orthopedic, but when I find one I like, I know they are worth the cost and will be all day shoes/boots.
