Ooh, you inspired me! I went back to see Angie's post, and ordered the Love Story jeans. They look perfect for me, and I have been looking for jeans. Thanks for the inspiration. I wish (as an aside) that the blog posts showed all of the photos of Angie's recommendations. I miss a lot through not wanting to take the time to load every link on my ipad just to see if I would like it. Guess I missed that one!

Thank you everyone for your input.

Angie, can't wait to see your flares in action. You are right about most of mine fitting looser on the thighs, since they are trouser cut. But the faded gaps are fitted on thighs, they only start flaring out at the knees, though in less architectural way than the Love Storys.

I think you're covered in the flared jeans area for now, Tanya. You look gorgeously smashing as usual.

That said, the Love Storys do fit differently. They are much more fitted on the thighs and kick out from the knee in a more architectural way. Your flares are wider on the thigh - almost like wide legs.

You'll get a better sense of how the Love Storys fit with the outfit post in April. xo

A great find in your closet, I like the current jeans and think your money would be better spent for some other fab piece, instead of duplicating these. Of course, if the season progresses and these become a workhorse, then maybe reconsider.

I don't mind the shorter top in #2 with the jeans, but I think it would be more fun, if you had a long tunic peeking out from under this short top.

My gosh, you look incredible in flares Tanya. And you gotta love "free" jeans that are on trend! I agree with the others that have suggested trying these out a bit before deciding to purchase the J Brand flares.

I think the sweatshirt in pic #2 (which is fab by the way) works with the faded flares as the color contrast is not super high.

Ooooh! What wonderful "Shop Your Closet" finds! I think that both pairs are fabulous just the way you have styled them. They look very "current".

Yes, I do think the top in #2 works. If you wore a belt the chances of exposing a sliver of skin would diminish. I like the Pin of tucked plaid shirt and think it would look great on you.

I think with a long torso like yours you could get away with an even higher rise. And a super croped top. But a lower rise ... I am not very sure. I think all tops that work with a lower rise will work very well with the flares you already own. The sweatshirt in pic 2 looks good to me too.

But I have to agree that you look gorgeous in flares

Thanks ladies! I agree that higher rises are generally better on my body, that is why I went with all of these years ago. As you can see I own plenty of flared jeans so there is really no need for a new pair; I was just slightly worried that the most current way of styling it requires a lower rise pair.

I am curious if you think that the sweatshirt in #2 works with those jeans - it is quite short though not officially cropped. But the welt barely covers my tummy, anything shorter and I would be exposing some skin, which is not an option for most occasion in my daily life.

Wow! Talk about shopping your closet! That is success! Love these jeans for you. I think you should try them out, see how you enjoy them. If you are loving the wide flares a whole lot, then maybe you can add the J. Brands. But I agree with what Beth Ann and Joy say -- you look great in this version due to body type and these will also look fun with some current top silhouettes.

I agree with Beth Ann. You have a gorgeous long torso that doesn't need the low rise. Cropped boxy tops might be fun to try. You look fab. My favorite is the faded jean look in 2.

What fun to find treasures waiting in your closet! I love your higher-waisted versions and think they work well for your wardrobe and long waist. They'll also work well with the shorter, slouchier tops that are current, rather than the extra long tees that were more popular when you bought these.

I am very excited about revival of flared jeans and plan to wear them a lot this upcoming season. Angie recently posted these amazing faded J Brands (pic #1) in her recent fab finds that I have been swooning over and placed very high on my spring shopping priority list,

However, look what I have just found in my closet! These faded Gap flares (#2), that I think i bought at the end of summer 3-4 years ago on clearance for about $10 and completely forgot about. They will need hemming - I am wearing them with 4" wedges in the photo and these days I can only do 3" max. I also own dark trouser pair that I wore today (#3), dark flared classic jeans - Ginger by 7FAMK ( stock photo #4) and white trouser jeans by Joe's (#5). All of these will have to be re-hemmed at least an inch shorter - can not do 4" anymore.

So, can I justify saving for and getting the J Brands? The main difference would be low rise, everything I already own is high rise, and a somewhat different wash.

ETA: Is there any of the current ways of styling flared jeans that works much better with lower rise than high-rise flares? Maybe with a tucked-in shirt/blouse, although I have seen those tucked into higher-rise flares, such as in #6?
