I'm looking again at the pix of the fit of the blazer on you and then at the model. I really like the front fit of the blazer on you and looks perfect to me in the last photo, the one where it's open and the sleeves pushed up. The fit on the model looks too severe and contained for you. Too office-y and loses its dash. But show your mom the picture of how the back of the model's blazer fits. It's quite usual for people to be two different sizes front and back. Looks like you just need a narrower back fit, especially across the upper back portion, defining back waist a bit more but leaving room for hips below. A skimming back fit.

Thank you so much for your encouragement - it is nice to be missed as well :-)
I did due diligence today and went to 3 other stores to check if I can find size 10 to try on. Guess what: they did not have these Theory blazers at all! I guess my Winners is the most "upscale" one..
Now I am ready to take it to my Mom for evaluation. If she can alter it to perfection it stays. I will keep you posted!
Beth Ann and Echo: high button stance must be the style. I have found this blazer stock picture online (sold out everywhere and non in wine color!) and you can see the same stance on the model.
Sterling, I have these animal print loafers for several years now. They are on a darker side - like MsMary I treat animal print shoes as neutral :-)
Beth Ann,thanks for the hair color love. Actually it is an a dire need of coloring now, I am waiting for my haircut this weekend to do it.

Hi Sveta! So good to see you again! First -- I'm loving your rich hair color. I'm also seeing updated style in your wide cuff jeans and fab shoes!

I love the color and length of this jacket, and I've seen the magic your mom can work. I want to Echo Echo (hee --- so fun to say that). I think the button stance is a bit high. However, if your mom nips in the waist a bit, I think it will look more intentional.

I love this jacket; the length is perfect, and it is an on-trend color for fall. What I fail to see are the fit issues that others mention. It looks great open, and the only fit issue I notice is that the one-button stance is higher than it might optimally be. Otherwise, it doesn't look too big or too small in the torso at all to me. I would definitely vote keep.

You look beautiful in that cut and color of blazer. Being sure it can tailored to fit you and matches your style preferences is critical; like that shade and the simplicity of the jacket. Would it also work as early fall and late spring outerwear in your climate?

Always a pleasure to hear from you and hoping that it all settles down soon.

Sveta, so nice to see you! The blazer is so classic and such a beautiful color, that I think it would be hard to go wrong with it, if a) you can make a number of outfits with it from your closet, and b) your mom can indeed alter it for perfect fit.

It seems to me you get lots of wear out of blazers with your work, so I wouldn't think that anyone else being "off of blazers"' should make much difference. I am kind of off of them too, but I'm self employed in an extremely casual field! Nonetheless, I keep my favorites around, one of which is very close to this same burgundy color.

How nice to see you here on the forum, Sveta, you have been missed! It is a lovely color on you and the alterations can make the fit right, then it is a real contender. I would do an outfit making session as already suggested. Also, would you want to add another, trendy refresher jacket int he fall or not? I would base my decision on these couple of facts.

Mmm. If by wardrobe refresher you mean injecting a shot of trendy in your wardrobe, I'd say it's not the right item, it looks classic (actually it looks more like part of a suit than a blazer in my eyes).
As for keeping it even if it's not on trend : did you wear the other blazers last year ? do you feel like wearing them now ? Can you build a capsule around this wine colour ?

Not Angie but blazers not out for me. In fact, had been craving and acquired longer more torso-conscious blazers lately. Just read a couple places that this length is showing up. I think of it as a kind of refreshed retro look. I like it on you and if you related to it right away, why not keep and enjoy.

The color of that jacket is great and with a little tailoring it will be perfect. I just bought a vastly reduced black Theory jacket because the fit was so perfect. They really do make beautiful blazers and a good blazer will never go out of style.

This colour seems to be a very hot colour for fall - lots of NAS purchases were in wine, maroon, crimson shades. This jacket fits you beautifully through the shoulders and length of arms, and overall length, but needs to be nipped in a little at the waist to be a perfect 10. (I'm thinking an 8/10 as is and would be tempted myself if I saw it.) if your mom can work her usual magic, this would be worth the price.

Hi there! It has been long time since I posted on the forum: I had many personal and professional issues over this summer and did not have either time or energy for YLF. Hopefully it will change soon and I can be more active here again.
I also did not do much shopping this year - 2 pairs of casual jeans / pants and 4 t-shirts was all for the last 8 months...
but I ventured into Winners yesterday and guess what caught my eye right from the entrance: Theory long jacket in wine shade!
It went home with me and now I have 1 week to decide if I want to keep. This is size 12 and size 10 was not available to try on. This size fits well in shoulders but a bit big in the chest / back which is my usual issue. I am going to ask my Mom tomorrow if she can alter it to fit better in these areas if I decide to keep.
So now I need some YLF wisdom - keep or return. I love the color and wanted to get more wine / burgundy items for my wardrobe. The quality is great and fabric feels wonderful. It is still expensive ($180) but I think it is a good price for Theory quality and I can afford it. I ALWAYS wanted to get Theory jacket and could not find a well fitting one before.
I LOVE the length - both in the body and in sleeves. LONG!!!!! This is such a rare occurrence for me!
So why I need your help? Because I was pretty much off the style grid this year (due to mentioned issues) and not sure where I want to go next. I do wear jackets for work and for travel so it is going to be used. However if I need a fall / winter wardrobe refresher (and I do need it) is this the right item? Also I remember Angie said in one of her posts that she is off blazers now so should I add one? We had pretty similar style preferences before so maybe I will be off blazers too soon?
From finds below you can see what I currently have in jacket department: 3 blazers and 4 leather jackets.
What do you think? Worth keeping even if it is not on trend?

Thanks for your help!
