Heehee just saw my "gusty" typo. Oh the iphone auto-corrector is so wacky!

I will add a photo of me in the delicate chain when I get home tomorrow. I probably have one somewhere in my flickr account but I can't look it up via my iphone.

Blonde Ambition -I am so glad you asked this question, because I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I used to wear tons of necklaces. Then my proportions changed after pregnancy, and I just totally stopped wearing them. I need to try some of this out.
Question - KristenKP, you said your favorite one is a delicate chain. I feel like if I do any necklace, it has to be very definitely NOT delicate - because I feel like anything delicate will make my bustiness more apparent. Does that make sense to anyone? I feel like I need to do chunky pieces to stand up to the bust. Do you have a pic of you in it? Plus, what Shiny said makes sense too about the weight of the necklace. I definitely don't want to be lassoed! (Shiny, you look AMAZING in that blue dress even if you are part lassoed!) I guess I need to do some experimenting with necklaces!

I am gusty and I wear tons of long necklaces. My favorite is a delicate chain with small crystals but I also wear pearls, mixed stones, you name it! I wear them with crewnecks, collared shirts, turtlenecks, sweaters, everything. I find it depends on the outfit and the look I am trying to achieve. My advice is to just try some on at the stores and see if you like how they hang. The great thing about long necklaces is that they are easy to take on and off so experimenting in a store is easy.

Violet is busty and wears long necklaces really well. In fact I’m challenging Violet to wear short necklaces! I have clients who won’t wear long necklaces because they’re busty but it really depends on the weight of the necklace too. To Shiny’s point, try chunkier long necklace styles first and see how you go.

Thanks for the examples Shiny, I love your outfits and shoes and I really dig the way the necklaces bring your outfits to the next level.

I guess I will have to give it a try and hope I figure out what works best through trial and error.

Shiny -- you are so right, there's nothing worse than a necklace that is determined to behave like a lasso.

I'm somewhere between a 32c or a 34B, and I have learned recently to love long necklaces. I now own four and I'm even having fun combining them to wear together.

I like them to fall at a certain sweet spot, which, come to think of it, is right around my natural waist, which happens to be on the high side (an inch below my rib cage). If it falls too low, it only draws attention to my squishy midsection. Being short, this is why I had a mental aversion to long necklaces - most of them would hit exactly where I did not want them to. But, now I'm proof that even if you're only 5'0" you can find long necklaces just the right length.

However, I will say that sometimes the necklace will get "caught" around one of the "girls" - if you know what I mean. Here is the perfect picture to demonstrate - I believe the satin of this dress made the necklace want to slip and slide, because it did this ALL NIGHT:

http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....orm181.jpg

I find a collared shirt often helps the necklace stay put better:
http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....orm169.jpg

As does a cowl neck:
http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....orm170.jpg

A jacket can do this too.

I actually ended up knotting the necklace for this outfit, because there's something about this tighter-fitting shirt that led to the necklace want to wander in that annoying fashion:
http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....orm282.jpg

So I do find myself having to adjust here and there because that just looks weird. If you are very well endowed, and if your bra doesn't keep you, erm, separated, you may find the necklace gets stuck in between, instead of falling down in an elliptical shape getting squeezed together in one double-stranded line. Hopefully you can picture this and understand what I mean.

My experience is also that a heavier necklace will be more likely to stay put where you want it.

Try some different looks. If you don't have any yet, go to the store - try on in the dressing room & take pics. Then, go home & look at on your larger monitor. What you'll likely notice is about a 30" or longer may be fine (depending on the cut of your shirt). However, one that hits anywhere from about 23"-28" will emphasize the bust area. Again, something with a pendant on it that hits about that area or longer may emphasize the bust area as well. So, if you don't want that look - stay away from a pendant in that area. Or, hook 2 whatever necklaces you have together at home just to get an idea with different tops how it migt look & what length you want to try.

One of my gf's is very well endowed & if she does a high neck shirt (I usually see her in dark colors when she does this...hmmm, maybe that's another trick?) anyway - if she does a regular 30" chain & keeps the look simple no pendant it almost creates an illusion & you don't notice as much.

I hope that makes sense...

Great question! I'm not super busty, but do have a feeling the mid-length necklaces don't seem to 'drape' well on me sometimes.
I'm interested to hear what the others think about this.

I was wondering what you all think about wearing long necklaces if you're a very busty girl. I've always worn short necklaces to accentuate my decolletage and draw attention away from my chest, but I've always wanted to try wearing a long strand of pearls or gold/silver chains. What are the do's and don'ts of wearing a long necklace?
