Glad you had a good time & enjoyed the V&A - that was a highlight for me when we went to London 1.5 years ago.

Wonderful purchases. I really like the Clark's shoes.

Thanks everyone! I am also glad to hear that I am not the only one who feels old and fat in Topshop Ele, yes, it was the one in the Oxford circus. It was indeed packed with 14 years old, and there was a very loud music.

Angie, I suspect you don't quite like the jacket I bought, right? I really love it, but of course I am very interested in your expert opinion. Also, many things in it can be adjusted: the ties on the sleeves, the puffiness of the collar, not to mention that it can be worn open or closed.

I love the shoes. I'm a major fan of Clarks shoes- they're amazingly comfortable! I also feel like that in Topshop even if I'm wearing my most fashionable edgy clothes.

You are adorable Hannah, and you brought home gems! I LOVE the scarf and the jacket fits well too. Thanks for the super write up and I too would have brought home 2 kg's of tea. I’m a teapot just like you.

Great purchases, and I love the jacket, esp. with the yellow scarf.

I am a big tea person as well - that's one thing about US that gets me, how ubiquitous tea bags are. Grr. I think you did exceptionally well shopping. I always struggle with shopping while traveling, there are so many other things to do. I've been to London a few times but never to V&A museum. I love both Tate museums though; now I really wish I could go again!

Thank you for sharing your adventures. Love both the jacket and the shoes! I have been in London in August the past few summers and love it! It is so expensive, I rarely buy anything. I went into Mark and Spencer and was also shocked at some of the dowdy ensembles, I wonder why? They do have an odd mixture. I LOVE the Tate Modern but have been with others who have had the same experience as you did.

How fun to read about your London adventure Hannah!

The jacket really is beautiful, I especially love the wide collar and the sleeves. And both pairs of shoes look sooo comfortable. The t-strap detail is making me smile!

I'm also a tea girl, but right now I'm drooling at the thought of those pastries. Yum.

Wow, the champagne high tea looks AMAZING. I will definitely keep that in mind for a dressy high tea if I'm ever in London again! (Wishful thinking...) What a fun experience, Hannah!

(I am another "tea girl." In my later years in college, one of my favorite things to do with my friends was to go out to our favorite tea shop & pottery painting bar so we could have a great afternoon tea and then unleash our artsy selves. It's still one of my favorite things to do when I go back to visit.)

Looks like you scored some great items - I'm typically not a Mary Jane girl, but I LOVE the shape of your Clarks! - but I'm especially interested to hear about your Bravissimo experience.

I have to confess that between tea and shopping, tea is much more exciting to me! I also confess to using bags because i just can't beat the convenience, but I do keep some loose tea on hand for when I need a fix. Going out for tea is one of my most favorite things in the world to do!

Now to shopping, the jacket is fantastic! The Clarks are also a great find, especially if they're pretty AND comfy.

That's a great jacket, Hannah. You look fantastic in it! Also like your Clarks shoes- Clarks are generally very comfy and have been getting much more stylish in recent years!

You are not the only one to feel like that in Topshop. Was it the Oxford Circus flagship that you went in? I won't even step in there on the weekends, for fear of being trampled by 14-year-olds.

Looking forward to your Bravissimo post (my fave lingerie shop)!

BlondeAmbition - thank you, I am extremely flattered to hear that my style can be inspiring! Wow, I think this is maybe the best compliment I got in a long time!
I also think Clarks are super cool, and they are also super comfortable (and I have very finicky feet!).

Yes, I know it is over a week since I returned, but I had a huge deadline, so didn't have time to post ... sorry!

Anyway, from my very brief half-weekend in London:

1. I did manage to have champagne high tea - in St. James restaurant, in the 4th floor of Fortnum&Mason: http://www.fortnumandmason.com.....urant.aspx
This was the only one I was able to reserve (the others must've been booked for months!). It was truly a great experience. I had a glass of champagne, and a great tea (two pots: one contains the tea essence, the other boiling water; then there is a milk jug, and a sugar container), a three-levels stand with sandwiches and scones, and for the topmost level I got to choose two pastries. There was a hats exhibition in Victoria&Albert museum during that time, and the pastries were in the shape of little hats! Also, live music, and all patrons dressed to nines. Amazing, and definitely recommended if you happen to be in London.

2. Of course I went to Victoria & Albert, and the hats exhibition is extremely educating, well-organized, and fun.

3. I managed to get to Tate Modern (the tube during weekends is terrible though - half of it is under construction, and the other half is so full it is often impossible so squeeze in the train). Interesting, but too modern for me.

4. Tate Britain was inaccessible due to the construction on the tube.

5. Did a little shopping (really very little): bought a jacket and two pairs of shoes:
a) The jacket is from Marks&Spenser, believe it or not. Here it is open: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh.....directlink (the yellow scarf is of course inspired by Angie), and here closed: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh.....directlink
I am completely in love with it: it is both tough and girly at the same time; it is grey cotton, and shaped like a biker jacket, but has cropped sleeves and a very wide open collar. Oh, I found it on their site: http://www.marksandspencer.com.....#038;page=
(it is from their "Limited Collection").
b) mary janes from Clarks: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh.....directlink
I am not sure you can see the color clearly - it is tan-taupe, sort of a color of a very tanned skin, if this makes sense. Extremely comfortable, I have to convince myself not to wear them every day.
c) Wedge sandals from Clarks: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh.....directlink
Again, I am not sure you can see the color clearly - it was called "Lavender ash" (isn't it the most amazing name for a color?). Basically, it is greyish-taupe, with lavender tint. Not sure it makes sense ... I just love how modern they are, and that hint of a ruffle on the T-strap is to die for.

I didn't have much time to shop, and also the prices are quite steep. I did enter Topshop and felt old and fat at the same time, so tried to get out as soon as possible Oasis has a nice concept, but too hippie for me. Marks and Spenser sells all sorts of collections, and some of them are truly hideous (knit pants disguised as office wear, for example). But I couldn't pass the jacket, I just loved it too much. I actually left it on the hanger and went back to it after a while.

I also went to the brick-and-mortar Bravissimo shop, but I will do a separate post about it, for the busty gals on the forum (bravissimo sells bras and clothes for well-endowed women).

Oh, and of course I brought home maybe 2 kg of loose leaf tea from Fortnum and Mason I just LOVE good tea (only loose leaf, of course)!
