I believe this is where I stayed in 2003 when I went with my then-boyfriend and his family. I haven't been to the hotel since so things may have changed, but it was comfortable, clean, close to Paddington station and Hyde Park, and breakfast was decent too.

London is one of my all time favorite cities; I'm so envious! Hope you have a ball.

I think the last one we stayed in was 41 Draycott Place. It's on trip advisor with 4/5 stars. If you go to "The Apartments" website they have several in the general area.

If you decide to stay in the area I can give you some dining ideas too. Ooh, I wish I was going.

My recommendation will be useless, because we ended up staying in Putney when our first apartment rental fell through due to burst pipes (from the severe cold in March!) But I will say, even staying out there, we loved our little apartment and it wasn't as inconvenient as we'd feared at all. So...if nothing else pans out and you are curious, let me know.

Thanks Ingunn and Gaylenne. I will check out your recommendations. We are comfortable with the tube, and good walkers.

Mia, do you have a name or a link for the apartments?

I shall keep checking back until we book, in case there are more recommendations.

My suggestion isn't around Hyde Park area, but a 20 minute tube/DLR trip away from Central London in the Limehouse area.

The Royal Foundation of St. Katherine's is a venue for retreats and conferences, but also rents out rooms to travelers. The rooms are simple and airy, the setting is park-like, and the the price is very budget friendly for London. The rooms all have private en-suites and free wifi, but no television, and a continental breakfast is included. Gordon Ramsey's pub The Narrow is just a short walk away. It's the only place that my husband and I stay when in London since we discovered it a few years ago when I was in London for a conference.
http://www.rfsk.org.uk/stay
http://www.gordonramsay.com/thenarrow/

We stayed several times in the area near Sloane Square (off the Kings Road) in apartments that rented by the night. We loved the area and it wasn't far from Hyde Park.

Bonus was extra space and a kitchen/laundry for the price of a nice hotel room. We had lunches and breakfast most days in the room as there are lots of delis and grocery outlets like Marks and Spencer nearby as well as a selection of restaurants at different price points.

I've booked this hotel for 4 nights in June. It's in Paddington, but reasonably near Hyde Park. http://www.stdavidshotels.com

I've never stayed tehre myself yet, but we have gor recommendations from friends, and the reviews on Tripadvisor are quite good.

I would be careful with several of the hotels in Bayswater - they are very often in terrible condition. Let me know what you think!

DH and I will be travelling to the UK, with a month long visit planned. We have more than half the trip settled, but need to firm up the details around the London segment. We are planning to be in London from 12-16/17 September, and would like to stay in the Hyde Park area.

Eldest son is participating at the International Triathlon Union World Championships (team Canada age group, 20-25 Olympic distance) and it is on the same course the Olympic athletes used last year. DS is staying at the team hotelPrinces Gardens, and has already made his arrangements.

We want to give him his space ( besides, we have places to be and sights to see) but we would like to stay near Hyde Park as well.

My previous London hotel experiences have been in Bloomsbury area. DH and I prefer b& b's or unique inns or small hotels vs homogenized Mchotels. We do appreciate a good bed, but if our previous trips to London are any indication, we hardly spent any time in our room.

Any of you travellers, or UK Fabbers have any recommendations or suggestions? (5 nights).
