Try Air B&amp;B for an apartment. Go to Broadway shows in London. Eat at Indian restaurants. The food is awful otherwise, The British Museum was a big hit. My boys did not want to leave. Start at the Egyptian exhibit. Stonehenge was another big hit. We had to sign up for a tour to get there, but it was worth it.. we went on a bus (coach). Breakfast with cream and scones was the best meal of the day. Is your son old enough to go to the pubs. That is a good source of a yummy inexpensive meal. My boys were not old enough. Same with Spain. They were too young for tapas in bars. We went there years ago with our kids while staying on Costa Del Sol. There's not a lot to do as it's small, but obviously the Rock of&nbsp;Gibraltar. We did that. </p> <p>I just want to warn you about the monkeys (macaques): take the signs seriously.&nbsp; We were just behind a group of (obnoxious!) tourists who didn't take it seriously and were trying to feed them bags of chips and such and were doing other things to stir them up. Food is great there so it shouldn't be hard to find restos that offer delicious food. I love theatre in London and walking, and museums are mostly free, so if it rains a lot...</p> <p>I went to Granada (from Spain, not from London -- so can't comment on the travel situation out of the UK now.) Granada is fascinating -- the countryside and villages nearby are also supposed to be beautiful but I only saw from a train window this visit. But it sounds like you might be looking for a beach town (which is not Granada!). He wants to go to London; I want to get out of the grey weather. We are splitting the difference, going to London for 3 days, then taking a cheap flight to Gibraltar. To return to Berlin, we’ll fly from S Spain. Idk if we’ll stay in Gibraltar or someplace very close to it in Spain. I’d like to go to Morocco, but that might be a bit much for him, and we wouldn’t have enough time to take it in anyway. </p> <p>Tips on any of the above—affordable yummy food, affordable nice places to stay (most important—a decent mattress!) and a couple things to do would be great. We like light itineraries, so the Tower of London, St Michaels cave, the rock &amp; the tunnels might be enough, but one or two other options in London would be good. <b>We like Caribbean food and my son wants to get cornrows, so suggestions for those would be especially appreciated.</b> </p>
