Yes, Shiny, the Gap jeans are a slightly heavier denim, which surprised me since they actually have less cotton in them than the Loft jeans. I actually think I'm returning both pairs. I posted a close up of the back view on another thread and the more I look at it, the more I don't like it. I'll either take a second look at the Gap's in my regular size (not one size up), try the Resolution straight skimmers (instead of full length) and see if the fit is better, or keep looking!

I got to try them on this afternoon. They did not work for me - as someone else said, they zig where I zag! Also the pockets were just enormous for someone petite, and I know from experience (and from the online reviews) that going to a petite size isn't going to fix that.

I'd say the LOFT's are even higher waisted (I preferred the GAP waist-- came up just under the belly button) and the LOFTs are a tad looser in the hips, but more narrow in the thighs. The GAPs are also a heavier denim, yet stretchy.

They look just so fabulous on you -- they did nothing for me, I'm afraid! But I'm glad I tried. I guess if I need more jeans (and I really don't) I'll invest in the CM Sonica's. Lighter denim, smaller pockets, made me look 20 lbs lighter than I really am. The GAPs added weight on me... but they always do that, which is why I haven't bought GAP jeans in 15 years.

Shiny, they do fit similarily. The waist is about the same, but the Loft is my regular size and the Gap's are one size up (my size was tight in the waist in regular length, fine in long length). The Loft "Modern Fit" pair fit really well through the waist and hips, whereas the Gap pair are quite big in the waist but fit OK in the hips and thighs, maybe a little loose there too. The Gap pair had a loser fit in the lower leg, the Loft pair was tighter.

This happens to me sometimes with Gap jeans, and actually all pants - one size is too small, the next is too big. I am in between two sizes in my measurements, so it all makes sense but is very frustrating!

I might try the Gap Resolution Slim Straights in the cropped length - the ones I tried were full length - as the Resolution Skinnies in the cropped length fit in a more true to my size way.

Karie, would you say they fit similarly? I do like the LOFT high waist. How high is the waist on the Gap's in comparison?

Thanks ladies! I ended up getting these and the Gap Resolution Straights in dark wash. I think it'll be a showdown between the two pairs.

I got them in the white! Have yet to wear them ... Yes, they are snug in the calves but they don't ride up so I figured they will work. I couldn't resist the high rise.

Not sure about the ankle fit on these. I would wear them with boots or booties. The ankle is snug but not tight.
