Thanks for the suggestions Beth Ann. I'm headed for a trip to the San Francisco in a few weeks, so I will be able to check out some of these in person. I think you also suggested the Levis 314 in old post, so I may pop into the flagship store and look for something similar.

I walk and hike ALOT. SOme is genetics and some is muscle, but they get me where I need to go!

Sturdy calves power every stride forward, Karen!

It might be that the curve of your calf is slightly higher or lower than average, or, if your femur is slightly long, it puts the curve of the calf a little closer to the taper toward the ankle.

I also think a lot of manufacturers have gotten a bit lazy, relying on stretch to refine fit. Hence, what we on the forum call "calf sucking skinnies." Remember that slim straight legs (there are more out there this year) can look like a skinny with the right fit, particularly if you want to avoid a legging look!

Levi's has changed their cuts this year, but I've had good luck with their midrise skinny. Remember that different washes will fit differently, so try more than one. Kut from the Kloth might be worth a try, too. And Old Navy is generous with their curvy skinnies. I wear those a lot, and they skim, but don't hug, if you know what I mean. They do relax a lot, in most of their finishes, so account for that when you choose a size! You might need to size down.

Good luck!

Very interesting info - I have recently decided to give skinny jeans a try after seeing all you YFL rock the great slimmer looks (I've worn bootcut for years). Everything I have tried has gapped a bit in the waist, fit in the hips and pooched at the knees too much because of the too-tight calf.
I was about to post asking for brand suggestion, so it is nice to know some others are finding the same dilemma.

I'm 5'2" and have recently lost weight so am still trying to figure out my size, but 2P-4P seems good in most things. I do have sturdy calves.

Oh yes, Jen, I've had the same experience with a couple of the NYDJ cuts this year. I find them generous in the waist and long in the rise, but rather straight in the thigh and tight in the lower leg. Kut works bit better, but it seems like a lot of manufacturers reworked their denim silhouettes this year!

No experience with these Beth Ann, but knowing we have a somewhat similar shape, I had this KNEE issue with my NYDJ jeans I posted about a few weeks back... there must be something in the cuts this season so keen to see solutions...

Kiki, interesting that you found yours stretched out! I will keep a closer eye on mine.

Beth Ann, hee! This forum is such a great place to think of whenever something doesn't fit, I totally do the same as you and think of the forum members who'd rock an item that isn't working for me! I do hope you're able to keep a pair that fits over your knees though, this is a very useful feature in pants

I have the modern high waist skinny ankle jeans in white from last year, I've worn them a lot, about 60 times including last year. They did stretch out a little, but not at the waist so much, more just rumpling in the rise/crotch area and the knees. It's not that big/noticeable a difference, but if the waist hadn't been a barrier (since it stayed tight), I would have tried a size down in retrospect.

Thanks, Aida! I do try to remember that what doesn't work for me, might well be perfect on someone else, and, since being on the forum, that's gotten a lot easier. Passing over yet another dress with a high jewel neckline, I think of how nice it would look on Suz or Angie. I will now think, "These would be so flattering on Aida," when I can't get the skinnies over my kneecaps! They will now be dubbed "Aida pants!"

Well, KiKi, I loved being able to size down, but I prefer to do it before I realize I've purchased elephant pants that inflate as you wear them. Thanks for sharing your experience. (I am glad you found a pair that worked).

I have a pair of LOFT cropped white jeans from quite a few years ago and they still remain one of my favorite summer jeans. They don't seem to stretch at all or not much.

I got a perfectly reasonable size that fit in the store, bought two, because they were reasonable and because, duh, white. The Xs got so big I went back and exchanged the unworn ones for down sized Y. (I don't like to talk numbers if I can help it because it seems more body positive.) I am a lot of things, but not that size, anywhere else in the universe. So mine grew like crazy.

I have the same two pair as Tanya (I think!). Also haven't worn much yet but so far they seem to stay pretty put. If you can get the waist altered that would be your best bet.

(I know many have complained about the thigh/knee fit on LOFT's white denim and the kick crops in particular this season but I'm thrilled with it -- it's the only brand that fit me right!)

...popping back in. I must say my morning porridge was a bit of a trial. First, the pot was far too big and heavy, and it took me for ever to find a spoon that wasn't enormous, and the porridge? Well, don't get me started on that!

Now, before I take a nap.......

Angie: I think I'll play with belts first. If they don't give a lot, they'll be OK, I think. These are almost a high-rise, otherwise, I could just wear them a bit lower. I could definitely nip in the waist, though. Part of it is the fact that I balk at sizing up ---- for my knees!

Tanya: Thanks, that's very helpful. As you know, some fabrics stretch like crazy, and others don't. My BR crops, for example, give just a bit, but my ON skinnies look completely different on the first and second days of wear!

You are too funny, Beth Ann!

I own two pairs of Loft white denim from this season, both the cropped flare and high-waisted crop skinny. I haven't had them or worn them for long, but so far, they stretch very little, they only relax a little. I wore the skinny pair three times before washing, and in all the wears, they relaxed only a little bit.

Think Goldilocks.

Alone in the woods, one step ahead of the Three Bears.

Searching for white denim................

I've tried on the Loft Crop Flares in my usual size, but they did this "squeezy sausage thing" on my ------- wait for it ------ knees and upper calves. I've had this issue with this season's skinnies, too, even though the skinnies I already own are fine! I'm actually 3 dimensional, you know, and my knees need to bend (Despite the fact that I'm a fairytale character).

I ordered them a size up, but........... They're a bit too big, giving me a bit of a tummy fabric pooch that's not me, honest! I've not even eaten the porridge yet!

So........Those of you who own the Loft Cropped Flares, or other Loft denim: Do they stretch like ON, or mostly keep their original dimensions?

Signed,

Goldie ISO the perfect White Knight
