I really think the first inspo look is great in part because of the hardware, as you say, but also the heft of the shoe. It's classic for sure, but with a slight update. I really like the relaxed vibe of the socks and loafers look. It says, I'm cool without trying too hard. :)</p> <p>The red bag added a nice pop of color to your look.</p> <p>Touring historic homes is always fun. A while back I went on a tour of all the Vanderbilt homes. The Biltmore in Asheville, NC and the summer homes (The Breakers, Marble House, and Rosecliff) in Newport, RI. Both iterations are fab! </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/loafers-inspired-mash-up#post-2371509 Sun, 06 Oct 2024 00:35:44 +0000 Carla 2371509@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>Today I spent the day (5 hours anyway) visiting 7 different historic homes in my town. &nbsp;The house tour was organized by the local branch of the ACO (Architectural Conservancy of Ontario) as a fundraiser. &nbsp;All 1000 tickets were sold! &nbsp;</p> </p> <p> <div>One of the requests for the tour was to wear footwear easy to slip on and off, with socks. &nbsp; I decided loafers would fit the bill, but I only had one pair of thin socks that would work - and they were black! &nbsp;My usual with loafer is to wear them with bare feet, or stockings (not socks) if temps are cold. &nbsp;I wasn’t sure how to style an outfit with black loafers and black socks, so I turned to my trusty friend - Pinterest - and shopped my closet..</p> <p>i was able to come very close to inspo pic #1 with the outfit in #2. &nbsp;The metal,hardware in #1 helps bookend the model’s hair, and I’m missing that in my outfit. &nbsp;Though&nbsp;the day was starting out chilly, it was forecast to warm up and I felt the turtleneck sweater would be too hot, so I moved on.</p> <p>Next is a mash-up of inspo #1 and #3 (pale blue button down and jeans, but I not the sweater) and came up with the outfit in #4/5. &nbsp;The pale blue linen shirt was perfect under the lightweight wool blazer. &nbsp;I felt like one of the tribe on the tour! &nbsp;Lots of jeans, loafers, cardigans, cropped jackets, and a few blazers, plus good hair and accessories. &nbsp;People came from neighbouring towns and the Big City an hour away! &nbsp;</p> <p> </div><div><br /></div><div>I got some inspo from the tour for some reno projects I’m contemplating - but also an appreciation for what I have at home.</p> <p>There are more inspo pics I want to copy-cat, but first I need to go sock shopping! ;-)</p> <p> </div> </p>
