Good. Pondering usage is always a good idea.
My sons and their girlfriends don't understand why in our "fantasy redo" of our kitchen (that isn't happening), I'm not removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room area. No matter how many times I tell them that the wall keeps the smoke out of the rest of the house when I burn something.

Love love. I think these pieces have the bohemian minimalist vibe you're looking for. I vote the bench if it's more functional for you. I know from experience that teens will sit anywhere.

Having recently enjoyed the company of delightfully gracious and astoundingly easy to please young guests, I say decorate any way you like for yourself, and just keep having teenagers over. I can only very vaguely remember being so young, that basic physical comfort didn't take extensive thought and planning.

Very personally, I prefer more solid, actual-midcentury versions of that particular Ikea chair. That's only worth it if you have joy in the hunting and the history and the construction, though. And I tend to have guests too tall for that model. The recent teenage guests (brother and sister) were both about 6 feet!

Barbara - I'm not too worried about clutter. I have a nice desk in the living room and my one clutter issue is papers, which I will adress with desk organization. We seldom have guests, and when we do they are usually teens. The little dining nook in the kitchen will be right off the living room, so the chairs could be brought over for more seating as needed as well. I'm having a custom industrial pallet style table made with locking wheels and thinking about the chairs in the Find below. Your reply really helped me clarify n my own head what I want and why. I guess the chairs would be better if we did actually have guests

I like the look of the bench but would probably not find it comfortable, so would end up just using it as another flat surface to put stuff (clutter) on... So I'd probably go w/ the chairs as comfy seating always wins in my book.

I might wait and see once the other items are in place. I like the bench for not blocking the view, but I'd be worried about it becoming a place to put things on-unless you aren't like me and don't end up with clutter there. If you will regularly have more people than fit on the sectional I would want the chairs as they would be more comfortable. It also depends, are there dining room or kitchen chairs that can be brought in for more seating? And how old are your guests? I just realized my perspective on comfort and my kids' are very different.

Glory, the bench would be in addition to the wood Slice Coffee table. There may be room for another chair but I'll have to see once everything is in.

Would the bench be the coffee table or in addition to? If in addition to I would purchase chairs as they are much more comfortable than bench sitting. I like the idea of having at least one additional chair. Great selections!

I love Ikea but think I would prefer the bench, unless you need the chairs for more comfortable seating. The bench would be more versatile as you said.

My inclination is toward the bench. For me this would be more useful, since you will have seating with the sectional. Extra seating and a place to put snacks, books, magazines and a cat.

Since we lost most of our furniture in the fire, I will be redecorating. I found a small sectional at Macy's but it won't be delivered until next Saturday. The fabric is actually a grey/black tweed. I'm thinking about the wood Slice Coffee table and black and white bench to round out a small seating area, and a cowhide rug layered over sisal on the floor.
I also like these quilted leather chairs from Ikea though. It would have to be either the bench or these chairs I think.
I like the idea of a bench because it's another surface to rest things on plus extra seating and no back means it won't interfere with viewing the TV.
Opinions?
