Happy news, then. I bought my linen shirt at JCrew late this spring and have lamented over not wearing it more. I will wear it "autumnized" through September!

Did I miss the response that says what your September temps are might influence wearing linen.?...I have a bet that we are going to have a hot September in the northern midwest because we have had such a cool summer...That said, I have a linen blouse that I wear all summer but come fall, it just doesn't feel right..No textile cops have ticketed me..just the inner style gal coming out...

Museumgal, you crack me up! Echo, I appreciate your honesty. Linen is a summer fabric, this would be breaking a taboo. Born to be wild!

I have a linen blouse similar to this in blue that I layered under wool sweaters all winter long. No textile police showed up to ticket me.

I will leave this one to Angie. Like Suz, I have a very low tolerance for seasonal confusion, and linen reads high summer to me. I could personally never translate anything linen into fall wear.

Thanks for the feedback!
Suz - I did buy this shirt a few months ago - before it went on sale (I am a bit proud to add), but I have worn it several times over the past weeks. My seasonal tolerance is probably moderate -I really like ponte fabric and wear it all year long, same with lightweight wool and agree with you on silk. The weight of this shirt is not too light or gauzy, it's a pretty robust, opaque linen.

Firecracker - I think part of why I like this shirt is the nice long length and bit of flare, and I like your idea of pairing it with more substantial bottoms into the colder months, and Joy - your comment about cognac inspires me! WHat about with my Frye boots and medium to dark wash skinnies?

It ought to look fabulous with cognac for fall :) You can do a reverse of white jeans for all seasons.

Nice shirt!

I think it will depend on the weight and drape and how comfortable you are with mixing textures. I'd wear it into fall for sure, but probably not during the winter. But I have a really low tolerance for seasonal confusion -- like crazy low -- and relative fabric weight is my biggest issue. I can do it with silk because it layers easily (i.e. a jacket or pullover or cardigan over a silk shirt feels nice on the skin). But I don't feel the same about linen somehow. YMMV.

Having said that, I would get it anyway! It looks like a staple you could have for years.

I think as long as you're not too cold in it, it should be fine. It definitely looks like something that could be winterized; as Firecracker said, style similarly to a white cotton shirt.

Oh, that's a great shirt. Love the long back!
Part of me says, Why not? And part of me says, White linen feels like summer. But we have learned here to wear white jeans beyond summer, so it seems like white linen could work, too. I might autumnize it with medium wash jeans or colored jeans or even corduroys. Pretend it's a white cotton shirt, style it the same ways, and go for it.

I finally found a lovely, slightly A-line white shirt. It's actually a plus size - I didn't realize that when I bought it but I love the fit. Normally I feel like I'm wearing sheet in an oversized white shirt. But, can I wear it into fall? The linen factor is what I'm worried about.
