Elp, I would suggest looking a children's/junior packs. Many also come in different sizes and lengths. Here is an example :

http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop.....-pprrright

http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop.....-pprrright

My favorites are Jansport. They don't have the waist belt but they are set up in a way that I don't find I need it. I used mine in Disney every day for several days and I hike with mine .

https://www.amazon.com/JanSpor.....y_468_img_

If you feel you need a waist belt , you can order one separately.

https://smile.amazon.com/Fire-.....8&

Good Luck and happy hiking !

I would be very careful! I bought a small back pack with a hip strap and it was a disaster, because I'm short waisted. i went back to a smaller back pack with no waist strap and it's very good. I can't recall how big, sorry.

Like Anna said, if you would go for gear you have way more variation for back length available. I love my new Deuter backpack which is an SL model. They make a lot of their more technical packs in a short back length version.

Something like this:
https://www.rei.com/product/88.....ack-womens

I also love my Tom Bihn Daylight backpack but it doesn't have any structure at all. You might have a look at the Synapse 19, if that's big enough for you:
https://www.tombihn.com/collec.....4038833927
A lot more office appropriate, especially in black. Of course you have to like the "classic schoolbag" look.

Are you willing to consider gear? I find REI good for fitting a backpack to your body type. Also they have weighted sandbags that you put in & walk around the store to test the feel.

I would like to stay under 200$. Which ones would be short-torso friendly. I am not a big fan of bags with too many compartments.

What's your budget? Tom Bihn has a few that are built for smaller women, and are very organized. Like his other bags, they hold more than meets the eye.

We are out of the diaper bag phase but want something to take on short hikes and daytrips. Most of the backpacks I have tried fit poorly on my short-waisted and short torso.
