Diana, I think your issue is fixed. Please try zooming out and see whether it breaks the layout.

Also, in future don't hold back from opening a new thread, even if you think it is related to an existing one. I might lose track of something if I don't see it in the list.

Hi Greg,

I'm still at work so I don't have access to my home computer right now, but I think I've actually managed to replicate the problem on my work computer by using the Zoom Out command in firefox (in the view menu). Basically, the default zoom on this computer looks normal (photo 1) but if I zoom out once I get the broken layout. I can do this on narrow mode as well, although I do need to make the window very narrow, otherwise zooming out just switches to the wide mode.

Also, I seem to be getting a typing delay in firefox on the forum (where there's a lag between typing something and it showing up in the text box). I do type very fast... but it's not happening on safari. I thought it was that my internet connection at home was being slow, but it's also doing it on my super fast ethernet here at work.
That is quite weird. :-)

I have tried to reproduce this on FF 19.0.2 by changing the zoom level and the default font size and that didn't do it.

When you get home can you please take a screenshot with a lot more context -- as much of the YLF windows as possible?

Also, I would like to know whether you see this problem in both "modes", both narrow and wide.

Interesting one!

OK, so this is weird. My work Macbook pro (Mac OS 10.6.8, Firefox 19.0.2) is showing the layout correctly. My older Mac laptop at home, which is running exactly the same configuration, is the one showing the broken layout. No idea why... I did try to clear the cache but that did not help. The older laptop (with the broken layout) does have a 15" screen, and the other one is 13". Aside from age and general speed, that is the only difference.

Ariadne, several people have mentioned that they are struggling to see the grey, so I will tweak the colors later today.

You're quite right that monitors can be very different and things that look quite contrasty on ours look washed out on others. But by experimenting we'll find a happy medium.

Diana, it seems that on your Mac the layout is broken for some reason. It should look the same way it does on your iPad.

Which browser (and version of it) are you using on the Mac?

Ps- Greg, my name and picture are on the upper right corner in the dark gray bar on the iPad... It's only on my Mac that it looks like the photo above.

I have a related comment about text color, so I thought I'd just glom onto Ariadne's post rather than starting my own. Hope that's OK!

Anyway, I had a very hard time finding the tab where I could look at my profile, access my messages, etc. I have finally found it but on my browser my name is almost invisible - in the attached screenshot, it says "Diana" in very small, almost invisible text right above where it says "youlookfab" and that is what I have to roll over to get access to my messages, etc. Rolling over my picture above it does nothing.
Hi Greg - the redesigned site looks gorgeous. I love how clean and bright it is.

I'm having trouble with the light grey font that's used throughout. For example, to the right of my avatar, it's used for my username, rank, and the phrase 'View Forum Posts.' On the main forum page it's used for how long ago a forum topic was posted (ie "25 minutes ago by Ariadne") and so on. It is too light for me to read without a lot of squinting. If it were even 15% darker it would probably be fine. The light grey background with white images and text that's used for things like font formatting in forum posts, the 'Add a photo' graphic, etc. is also too low-contrast to view comfortably, at least to my eyes and on my monitor.

(I know contrast and color display vary quite a bit from monitor to monito. I don't think I have any monitor calibration issues because I'm not having trouble with contrast on other sites.)
