Thanks, Shiny. I'm still on the fence. I'm curious to see what Angie has to say about the length.

Really the responsible thing for me to do is take a pass because this does not really fit for my lifestyle. I went back to try on the jacket again today and tried the pants-- now that is a formal outfit. Pretty cool but it's like buying a ball gown. I wanted to take a pic but my camera was dead.

I really appreciate everyone's suggestions to make this jacket work for me. But really it's the inset that makes the jacket for me. Yes, it's less versatile but that's not really the point for this piece. I don't really need a black jacket on it's own. I also like the blouses Ana posted but once again, I'm not really looking for something like that right now. I just put this jacket it on and liked it *a lot* as is. It's the uniqueness that makes it special.

I agree with everyone that the attached shirt would seriously limit the wearability, BUT... would it be hard to remove the shirt? I do a lot of my own tailoring and alterations and depending on how the shirt is attached, it should be a fairly easy thing to separate them. Might be worth looking at. You just want to make sure that loosening those seams does not affect the look or integrity of the jacket itself.

Patience, I'd really have to pass on this one myself, because of the 2-in-1 deal. I think that's weird. I like the other ladies' sugestions for something similar that doesn't have a built-in shirt. I love that NL jacket that Laura posted. Too bad it's so pricey.

Hmm... if it were me, I would pass, sorry!

The 2-in-1 seriously limits the versatility of this piece. If it didn't have the shirt sewn in, you could simply add an arty t-shirt, jeans, and chucks and wear it during the daytime. You could dress it up or down and do all sorts of fun outfits with it. But since the shirt is sewn in, you can only wear it one way. :-(

HOWEVER, do you think the shirt could be removed by a tailor? That is an option. The price - provided you could wear it with various different tops - is a good deal. Otherwise, not so much, I'm afraid.

When I tried on the jacket, I was wearing a cami which I did have to pull down below the jacket to get the correct shirt length for pants. I'd say the jacket hit as most jackets do on me-- at my hip bone or so. But I would have to wear something under the jacket regardless, as the jacket separates below the button on me. I'm not sure what the appropriate garment would be.

Yes, it was longer on Patience than it is on the model. I can't remember the exact length though. I'd probably have to see it again. Nothing stuck out as being out of sorts. It may have been in between skirt/pants--I thought the jacket would look killer with a black pencil skirt, too.

I love BCBG too, dee2do. I could have bought nearly the entire store. Pre YLF I bought a pair of pants from there and absolutely loved the fit. I was happy that after all the weight loss, they still fit nicely.
I love the jacket on Patience. Really.
My office is business casual, but I'm the only female here, so I can pretty much do whatever I want. I would wear that jacket with trouser jeans to work any day of the week. It was sexy because it was masculine. It definitely didn't whisper "come hither", if you know what I mean.
I definitely understand wanting to fill your wardrobe with things that work for your lifestyle, though. But you never know when that might change. What I like about this jacket/top is that it's effortless. My favorite Angie blog post was about the effortless HK style and I have tried to emulate that more lately.
Anyway. I'm not much help because I'm quite biased about this jacket.

Antje has a good idea, Patience. Or, what if we looked for a tuxedo type of shirt that you could wear under a black blazer that you already had? Because I know you're attracted to the masculine aspect of the piece, and I think that's the shirt. I think I remember that you do have one, but I'm not sure if it's that dressy. But buying separates might be a better solution.

Here's a BCBG tux shirt, but it's almost as expensive as the jacket. However, it might be more versatile:

http://www.bluefly.com/BCBGMAX.....-207176400

This one is expensive, but I could really see it working well in your wardrobe, and if you wore a matte black blazer or cardigan over it, I think you could definitely wear it to work:

http://www.7forallmankind.com/...../2215.html

Interesting. When I first looked at the picture I thought it was just a jacket, and loved it. I agree that it's not for daytime, but would look stunning in the evening, where I'd pair it with jeans, a frilly blouse and heels.
But now that I see that it's all one piece, with the "shirt" built in, I'd actually refrain. It makes it sooo much less versatile, and I think in generally such two-in-one items are a bit goofy. Instead, maybe look for a similar jacket that you can combine with various things?

OH I didn't read the description. So it's a shirt and jacket all in one. Well that certainly limits the wearability. Hmmmm I'd be afraid of a closet orphan now.

Patience, would you wear it out on date night or girls night out? Can you think of at least 3 occasions where you'd wear it? If not, then it'll be orphaned.

This jacket was AMAZING on Patience! What makes it so cool, but also makes it less versatile, is that white tux panel is actually built into the jacket, so it doesn't come off. She looked very sexy in it, because it's kind of masculine, but also really feminine at the same time. That is why we thought maybe she couldn't wear it to work. I still vote she get it because it's so much her style and she really really loves it (she tried it on, tried on other stuff, and then put the jacket back on again one last time before we left the store).

Hmmm I think the best way to wear something so "formal" is with a pair of jeans. I'm not sure how you'd incorporate the short length with a pair of jeans though. I'm thinking some hot sexy high heeled pumps to girly it up a little bit.

I'm not sure how to build an outfit with Polyvore and it's too late for me to start now...but here's a tuxedo jacket with jeans:

http://www.polyvore.com/helmut.....id=4858105

But I'd go with a feminine ruffly blouse and some sexy high heeled pumps.

or something like this may be more work appropriate:

I think you could totally rock this on a night out! I cute but sexy top underneath in a pop color, dark skinnies and killer pumps! Simple jewelry... maybe just a cocktail ring. Love it!

Shopping today, I fell in love with this jacket:

http://www.bcbg.com/product/in.....age=family

Ana and Sarah thought it was too dressy for a smart casual office and-- sigh-- they are right. I suppose I could get it for evenings out but really does it suit my lifestyle? I suppose I'm looking for some moral support.
