@R&J The Hair Buff is brilliant, thank you. I actually already have a bamboo Handyband from Seasalt (UK) - I use it as a neck gaiter & headband for hiking, but will try it for this purpose instead;)

PS @AJ I live in subtropical humidity & have found the Giovanni line to work well; their leave-in conditioner & spray are lightweight & 'breathable' enough on my low porosity, fine but dense hair.

Isabel, thank you for thinking of my girls, giving the times we are living through they are both doing really well. They are 13 & 12 now.

Zaeobi, much to the amusement of my family I sometimes sleep in a tubular scarf, I sort of look like Mardge Simpson when it's on https://www.google.com/search?.....;prmd=sivn

@ROSEANDJOAN Your new hair looks great - I don't know if that's the lighting, but is that grey on top with blonde at the tips? If so it's great, looks like nature's ombre :)

PS - What do you do to keep your curls looking fab & voluminous at night? I've tried using a silk cap, but it tends to smooth my curls (same with a silk pillowcase, due to the length of my hair). I've also tried clipping it atop my head but that often falls out or gets uncomfortable as I toss & turn in my sleep. I do try to refresh in the morning with a quick spritz of hair oil, but the volume has mostly disappeared by then anyway... I'm like @JANET, in that my curls often look different from one day to the next

I have curly/wavy hair that's quite thick and coarse (and getting coarser as more gray comes in, year by year), so I am always interested in new products. I am currently using Original Moxie products, and happy with the results, but your Hair Snot sounds intriguing :).

Angie, it is a neighbour that now cuts my hair.

AJ, it would depend on how your hair responds to products with glycerin. I have been using the snot for around 5 months in Scotland's damp climate. I also have to water the product down a lot as it has been formulated for kinky, coily textured hair.

I'm partially CGM - like you, my products are CG approved but I do still diffuse on low heat when needed (my hair takes forever to dry otherwise).

I don't wash my hair everyday but, when I do, I massage in CG shampoo & use praying hands for my leave-in conditioner. I'll scrunch the ends to coax the curl & then 'plop' into a cotton t-shirt for ~20 mins. I clip my roots for volume as I diffuse/ air dry & use a CG curl mousse to hold things in place (i.e. smoothing flyaways & frizz, plus making sure my fringe curls the right way so it doesn't poke me in the eye, lol).

Aaand... That's it I'll also do a hot olive oil soak here & there but I find I need to keep things simple with HK's humidity & the low porosity fineness of my hair (too much product either weighs it down or starts to produce 'crunchy' curls). Your hair looks lovely & shiny in that regard, though - so much volume!

Thank you Star, my hair needs little encouragement to wave although I do need some styler for definition, when I plait my hair it is pulled almost straight.

Most of the time I co-wash, use a deep conditioner, apply styler to soaking wet hair, scrunch then leave to air dry.

Hi Zaeobi, thank you for such a detailed response and for your pictures, I completely agree about the face framing properties of the air fringe. Your waves are absolutely lovely and I'm envious of the shine.

I don't follow the curly girl method although the products I use are curly girl approved. Between work and family if I don't have time I will use a lo-poo, an approved conditioner and plait my hair, I will also use heat to dry my hair in the winter. Do you follow the method?

Oh hey, welcome (back)! Your hair is similar to mine, albeit with more curly volume (my ringlets tend to form at the bottom rather than 'out', but my hair is also fine but dense - meaning there's a lot of it, rather than each individual strand being 'thick'. So definitely don't get your hair thinned out if that applies to you too!). Do you use CGM (the Curly Girl Method)?

I've found that an 'oval' shaped cut works well for me (which you already seem to have going on in photo #3, to avoid the 'pyramid head' look, so well done!) I currently have a slightly modified curly shag going on, in that the fringe is not like thick jagged 'Betty Page' bangs (which are popular now) but rather an 'air fringe' (see photos in this link):
https://girlstyle.com/sg/amp/164759947527135/47867

The reason I suggest this particular fringe is because a) It's super easy to maintain & grow out (no feeling thick & heavy strands plastered to your forehead during your work outs), so it's also very versatile (easy to sweep out of the way for your serious finance job vs leave it hanging when rocking out at the weekend ) and also b) You have the forehead for it (mine is tiny, so I have to be careful about how much space to dedicate to such a fringe), so adding bangs might give you the 'difference' you crave without having to change up too much else (especially during these pandemic times, when we don't know how long before the next lockdown).

I've added an uncensored photo of my face to a recent thread (below) to give you an idea of how such a fringe grows out (got it cut in February): https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....e-runcarla

You can see how the fringe makes the hairstyle still look 'finished' in this other thread, even while it's up in a hair claw: https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....ms-not-top
For me though, I can't stand a hair claw during yoga because it always slips out or moves about! My solution has been to wrap my hair ends & fringe around a wide headband. Sounds strange perhaps but I find it works well. No need to pin anything in place, & all I have to do is shake it out right after for hair that's appropriate for going out in public It looks like I used a wide curling barrel!

Of course there's no obligation to go with such a look - am just throwing it out there for ideas from a fellow 'wavy curly'

Yeah Carla, I am growing out the blonde but I'm quite contrary with my hair and may choose to dye it again in the future.

Jonesy, do you have curly hair too?

Thank you Cat.

Late to this thread. As a fellow curly haired person, I’m looking forward to your reveal R&J. I guess you are growing out the blonde? Your gray looks to be a pretty grey.

@ Janet - maybe a sheer gloss might be the trick to restore shine and smooth texture? I’m sure your stylist will have some good ideas. The silver really is good on you.

Pic below - an idea for down the road...

Aw Janet, how you feel verses how you look to others is quite different. You look great in your recent WIW posts.

I know what you mean about the changes in texture, I have quite a few greys in the front section of my hair and it is much coarser and escapes from the curl clumps far more frequently.

Hopefully the haircut will be the pick me up you need xo

As others have said: gorgeous hair!
I like #3 for the option of curly and straight. The cut looks fantastic both ways and you can still put it up when you need to.
I’m another person letting my hair go gray. Agree about the change in texture.
But I am trying to resist coloring!
Good luck - you have a great base to work with!

It's hard to even say what I need in terms of product until I get a real haircut and consult with my stylist. The change in hair texture comes with my stopping having my hair colored over 14 months ago. Coloring definitely changes the texture -- smoothing the texture of hair. I think the texture bothers me more than the actual grey. My hair used to have some shine to it and now it feels like it just looks like a dull mop, LOL.

I am now just using up whatever products I have in the cabinet because I have little bits of a few different things left. It's likely I do need to make some changes now that I'm not coloring it. It makes a difference whether I decide to air dry with no heat styling, or blow dry it more straight -- I have the kind of hair that never looks the same from one day to the next, despite doing the exact same thing to it. I hate my bangs right now because they are long and flip up at the ends, so I end up blow drying them to smooth them out and let the rest do what it's going to do. But I don't want to go hacking at my hair again when I'm so close to a real hair cut. Ugh, I kind of hate my hair right now when I felt ok about it a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure my stylist will have some good suggestions for me -- he's been doing my hair for over 17 years now so he knows me and my hair pretty well!

She is, JAileen, Joy, Debbie, Cardiffgal thanks so much for the little boost.

Sally, I tend to use a hair claw when I'm doing yoga which I can clip to the side of the mat when needed. My yoga studio reopens on the 17th May and I cannot wait to be back in my happy spot.

Jessikams, yeah the curly fringe is a great look and one I may consider in the future.

Janet, thanks so much, what products are you using at the moment, do they need a tweek for the summer?

Suntiger (great name) and Viva, I opted for a shoulder length bob in the end. I'll post pictures after my next washday as the stylist blow-dried my hair.

Sorry if I missed anyone but I really appreciate your help xo
