They work best with a voluminous bottom of some kind, to my eye -- either a wide dress/ skirt, wide leg pants or crops. Far from it! I am in awe of it all. It is something I have yet to get a handle on in my new suburban world where I am on bike a lot. I need some different kinds of bags -- maybe very small crossbodies into which I can pop matching or complementary fabric / nylon shopping bags or something. I have been giving this some thought but have not identified exactly what I might like or figured out whether it would in fact look stylish.&nbsp;</p> <p>I like what Helena said a lot. Sometimes when I buy a piece that doesn't seem to work and I need complements, the added complements turn into workhorses. Though that is not as breezy for hot weather.<br /> I hear you on buying things you hadn’t planned on, so first I would go through everything in closet ( play good music or something to get you through it!) trying various medium colors such as anything orange, rust, coral, mustard, blue, any browns or brownish metallics. Black summery footwear could work with blues also, more of a tonal bookend than exact match. If stripe were off- white it would suit your coloring better. </p> <p>If you just love it, then keep it and work with it. But Im not sure it’s as great on you as other tops you have and it may be too much “ work” to style while at same time being more of a statement stripe. A solid color could work better. The collar and wide sleeves are a bit off. </p> <p>BTW I have waffled on ordering this top myself, and I would choose the taupe stripe also. But partly because none of the other colors work for me at all! I have not pulled the trigger because I envision its being too limited in wear for me while not being a perfect special occasion item either. I think if it were a solid medium- rich color in my palette it would be more versatile. Or a more subdued stripe.
