Cheryle, its actually a little cross stitch on the inside a half an inch from the bottom of the zipper, and I couldn't get my foot in at first. As I was trying on one of the first pairs to hit the stores, the SA's were stumped whether it was for shipping protection or what. The SA unpicked the stitching with the tips of tiny scissors. And by the time I went back a week later to get the burgundy ones they had done it to all their stock. So mine do open all the way down with no rippling.

Cheryle - now that I look at both pair, the burgundy ones stop before the end of the zipper, but there is no bump or anything weird in the teeth. The black ones open right to the bottom. I can get the burg ones on without any trouble, so I didn't even notice it until I was taking them off. Weird.

Honestly? I buy any boots I love. I just caved on a pair of A.S. 98s. But boots are what make my world go round. Sounds like these didn't work but if you wear favorites to death then that is worth it!

Another lemming checking in here! I ordered them from the website about an hour after lisap's initial post. (Thank you Lisa!) The shipping is free and UPS will deliver Monday. Since you already know how they fit I think you should order them and give it a try. Returns can be done to the store if they don't work out. No retail stone unturned!

No, Lisa it was a flaw. The zipper wouldn't go down far enough to easily put it on. There was a visible bump in the teeth below the slider preventing the zipper from opening much below the top of the heel reinforcement. It was very strange. I suspect it was an anomaly and the kid at the store was just trying to make it seem the norm. It was kind of funny really.

Cheryle, they are made this way. No rippling that I can see on either of mine, but then again, I may not be noticing something you are. I thought that particular construction was to prevent the zipper from potential breakage if it were to open too far down onto the heel. Smittie - the Nine West aren't burgundy, they are actually brown with a tiny hint of plum.

To me, a higher shaft, block heeled boot is quite a leap forward in terms of looking current and stylish, and I would go for it. I personally prefer the dressier version of the boot - think Lisa's Nine West burgundy boots (which I hope you've not abandoned, lisap!).

I don't think you can wear burgundy with black leather pants, can you?

I don't like online shopping, and I've search the B&M here quite extensively, and have not found ANY high shaft block heeled boots in Ottawa. So I guess I'm just going to have to wait.

Just got back from the mall. I went to the store and described the boot to the SA. He couldn't find them. He went to try to look it up. I was just going to find the link here when I spotted them at the back of the store. He saw them, said great and walked away without asking what size I wanted. :) I waited until the other SA was finished his conversation with a buddy and asked for my size. He didn't think they had my size but relented and checked. He handed me the right boot and walked away. No problem. It felt a bit short in my usual size so I asked for 1/2 size up. He didn't have them. I decided to try on the left shoe but when I pulled it out, the zipper was still at least 1.5" from the bottom and wouldn't budge. The SA said there was a thread in it but when I looked closer, I could see that the fabric of the zipper had been sewn on too loose and it created a slight ripple that prevented the zipper from going past that point. He said they were all like that when they came in.

I liked the look of the boot and the leather felt nice but I was a bit surprised that the SA gave me a defective boot to try. Anyway, I looked around the mall but didn't find anything else worth trying.

I am considering those boots as well. I think you can work them nicely into your wardrobe and get good wear from them. They are quite different form the two that you are showing.

Well, since I bought these boots, I have already seen how they add a completely different, more up-to-date look to the skinnies/leggings uniform we all adopt at this time of year. I wear the faux leather leggings a lot too, and had them on with the new boots the other day in fact and it felt more ....I don't know what word I'm looking for here but......finished and complete with a boot that came up higher on my leg. Grounding that type of outfit, if that makes sense. I have a fair sized collection of boots too, and know exactly what you mean about buying a new pair and then abandoning others. I think that will happen for me now, especially with two pair of the same boot - but I've made the leap, and am happy with it.

I have been having an internal debate since Lisa posted the burgundy boots from Little Burgundy. I have a fairly significant selection of boots and added 3 tall pairs and an ankle pair already this season. Plus I bought a pair of doc martens that I gave to my niece. I wear boots almost daily in fall/winter but have a tendency to overbuy and then wear a favorite to death.

I wore booties a lot last winter and have given away a few this year already. So far, the only pair I have worn are forest green booties that are super comfortable but may not work well with the faux leather jeggings/ponte pants.

I have been wearing the new black booties at least two times per week since I got them so perhaps a similar style in terms of shaft and heel height would add variety rather than splitting wears and burgundy is a good semi-neutral with the greys and blacks.

I added finds for the two that I am wearing now. I can't figure out if I am being a lemming or need another pair of taller ankle boots in my life. How do sort through this type of dilemna?
