In size small, they are slightly over 10 inches at the bottom, zipped, and slightly over 12 inches at the top of the zipper.

I think the calf width will vary by size. So it will depend to some degree on what size you order. It will also depend on how long the pants are on you and how high you wear them (on your true waist or below).

My calves are sometimes wide for skinnies -- at least for the legging jean type. And I sometimes have to do that funny tug-the-jean-down dance when I'm wearing skinnies because they get stuck on the calf when I'm sitting -- you probably know what I mean.

The Leiths are narrowest in the bottom few inches where the zippers are. I need to unzip to get them over my feet, but I am able to zip them all the way up again if desired. Zipping effects the drape and where the fabric pools (or doesn't) creating different visual effects...it's a bit tricky to explain, but it seemed to look better on me with some shoe styles fully zipped and some a bit unzipped. I think that's partly a function of how long the inseam is on you, personally...if that makes any sense.

The pant fit my calf area just fine -- lots of draping there. Not like wearing a skinny at all for me in that area. But zipped, on me, it's a bit more of a harem pant effect because of the contrast between the bagginess up top and extreme narrowness at the ankle area. Also, by unzipping I got a bit more length, so if I wore the pants a bit higher they still seemed to work. But I would likely experiment a bit with this...just wanted you to know that while I photographed them open, it wasn't because I had to wear them open. It was because I was playing around with it, more, if you know what I mean.

Echo, I'm having to send mine back for this very reason. I had lots of room in the XL in the waist --- too much, actually, since the waistband only has a drawstring in the front, and is non-functional. But I found them too snug from the knees to the calf, at least when I knelt down. This pulled the back of the waistband down, giving me a plumber view. Aaargh. The fabric is great, and if I just didn't bend or sit, they looked great!

I'm solving the problem by trying to make a pair in matte jersey (no zippers, though, let's start simple). I noticed Vince Camuto has a pair that looks a little fuller in the lower leg, with an elastic cuff In g--- also on the Nordies site for $99.

I tend to have thick legs. Skinny pants often do not fit me due to my calves and not my thighs since I was a dancer in college. I LOVE the look of these pants, but I am wondering what the width in the calf is. I've seen a number of people wear them unzipped, and while I am not opposed to that, I don't want to HAVE to wear them unzipped. So I am wondering if they fit wide calves acceptably or if they are truly skinny at the bottom. Thanks in advance!
