I think leggings work at various lengths, with various heel heights and with various tops. You need to wear dresses and tops shorter to get rid of the “stumpy” impression when you wear calf length leggings. Note that Vera Wang is wearing 5 inch platforms WITH the ensemble. It visually raises the length of the leggings. This makes a HUGE difference. I am 43, and they are a staple of my wardrobe. I'm also 5'3". The key is finding the right proportions of top length and legging length, seeing what works with your body.</p> <p>LauraN -- I think the point is that, since leggings are tightly hugging your leg, they accentuate the calf muscle.
