I purchased an Omnilux for face and neck in 2022. I use them for rosacea and when I am consistent, they work. There are lots of scientific studies that it helps. I cannot speak to wrinkles because I have been getting botox for migraines for almost 20 years with the added benefit of fewer facial wrinkles. Using the Omnilux takes a minimum of 10 minutes each session. It requires commitment and having enough time to establish a new time consuming habit to your routine. It takes added time to put the device on and put it away. I need to set aside 20 minutes for each session. If you can see without glasses, the Omnilux can be a great choice because you can wear it and move around if you figure out how to carry the rechargeable battery packs. Sadly, my battery packs no longer maintain adequate charge. I could not find replacement chargers on the Omnilux website. Therefore, I second the advice to look for a unit with replacement chargers/parts.

If you do get a device, I suggest one that has FDA approval. There are a few units available that can be paid for with a HSA if you have one.

I tried using a red light boot to treat plantar fasciitis, and I am not convinced it helped. They are also supposed to help with some types of joint pain and inflammation. It was not an FDA approved device, so maybe that's why?

I have three (!) of these devices, for the face, neck and hands. In my experience, they do make a difference if you use them consistently.

One thing to keep in mind is that the rechargeable battery, often called something like a "controller" by the manufacturer, is likely to be the thing that gives out first, not the LED lights. If you cannot buy a replacement controller from the manufacturer you will then be stuck with an expensive piece of junk when the battery dies. This happened to me with the first face mask I bought, from Current Body. I got great results with that but by the time I needed a new controller, the manufacturer had stopped producing the controller that was compatible with my mask, so I had to discard it. The latest Current Body mask has been manufactured so that the controller is an integral part of the mask and so it is impossible to replace the battery, which I find appalling. I'm sure this would never happen with a product targeted primarily at men.

I eventually ended up buying new face and neck masks from a different manufacturer that were more expensive but which have separate controllers that can be replaced, which I think will work out to be cheaper (and more environmentally friendly) in the long run.

Thanks, Theodora! I look forward to your updates.

We renovated our bathroom last year and the lights got a huge upgrade. Along with the magnifying mirror in my medicine cabinet, I’m getting a whole new insight into how old I actually am! LOL

I bought one during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but due to life and laziness, only got around to opening the box 2 weeks ago…
‘it is the Solawave one. I took photos, which are frankly horrifying, of all sides of my face without makeup before the first use, then after the 6th use. I am intending to do this every 2 weeks, to see if there are any improvements. After my shower, when my face is clean seems to work, just 10 minutes. Surprising how old and wrinkly I am up close ;)
I’m not changing anything else, especially moisturizer or adding retinol or serums, until I have an objective sense of results, so I will keep everyone posted!

I have had an omnilux face and neck mask and have used it consistently about 3x/week for about 3 years. My skin has not stopped aging but it does look better than it might, if you know what I mean. Impossible to know how it would look if I hadn't started using it, so this is not very scientific of course. I use it in the late afternoon after I take off my sunscreen/makeup, which works for me because I work at home in the second half of the day.

Thanks for the responses! Peri, it's really reassuring that those devices have been effective for other issues. I think I could find the time since I am self-employed and my schedule most days is really flexible. I just have to find the discipline and routine to make usage a habit.

Lisa, I'm curious especially about the neck/chest one. My neck is really bumming me out. And on top of everything I seem to have a stubborn little patchy rash on my neck. I got it last winter too, and I can't figure out the cause. I probably need to solve that before I go putting a device on my neck, LOL.

Anna, I'll be curious to know how it goes for you!

I just ordered one from Therabody, trying to use up the last of my FSA dollars. I will most likely need a letter of medical necessity from my Dr.
It all has the colors and a scalp massage function. So theoretically all the bells and whistles. Will try and report back.

I have one for the face and was just given a neck/chest one for Christmas . I do feel that the face one is effective and when I use it consistently I can definitely tell . As Peri mentioned , it has to be used on a clean dry face and finding that 15 minute time slot where all planets align is tricky . Probably easier for those without somewhere to be first thing in the morning or who can plan to do it before bed . I find I get even better results adding in a serum before putting the mask on . It needs to be done 4-5 times a week to be effective .

I tried the neck / chest one last night and am looking forward to seeing how it goes ! Mine is completely comfortable and the eye pads are just fine . No issues with wearing it at all

I bought one but have not been able to get into the routine of using it.

First obstacle, clean dry face. That means no moisturizer? I can't wait between washing my face and putting something on it. Second obstacle, the lights really bother my eyes and the goggles that came with it are downright painful and leave gouge marks. That seems counterproductive! Insult to injury, the goggles don't help that much. So, after using it, it's hard to see normally for at least 5-10 minutes...everything looks dim and green. Third obstacle, I can't find a place in my day where the first two obstacles would be okay!

If you feel like these would be okay for you, there are some newer versions where the goggles are built in and are softer, and also some newer ones where the mask is shaped, rather than the flexible rubbery kind I have that sits right on your skin. I've considered buying one of those to try again, but haven't yet.

As far as effectiveness, can't judge because I haven't used it! But I use other red light devices with great frequency for things like arthritis, muscle soreness and ortho injuries. I have a foot one I use almost nightly and a flat pad for back pain. My DH uses a knee shaped one and an elbow shaped one. We can both attest that for this kind of use, red light is flat out amazing!!! So I do think that if I could get going on it, the face mask would at least have some effect.

Not fashion but beauty related… I’m wondering if anyone here has had experience with those red light LED masks. I see ads on social media constantly, and I’ve read some reviews that seem promising, but I’m always a bit of a skeptic and prefer to hear feedback from people I “know.” Have any of you tried these, and have you had good results? Would love to hear your stories!
