I like the original color of the jacket and missed the thread where it looked like it washed you out. I can't really tell how colors look on people in photos since the computer moniter can change how colors look in photographs. I prefer the berry, although you have other berry toppers they seem like very different styles from this jacket. I also like the olive if you are looking for something a little different from what you already have.

For the dye, pic 2 is my favourite on you hands down. Even if you do have another jacket this colour, there is a reason for you to have this one. I think it would marry well with raspberry tops underneath, or a cream /winter white turtle neck. The cognac colour seems a bit different (lighter) from the one in 8 too. Pic 2 is also in your palette, making it easy to style.

But if you are in for a totally new direction, then go for 4, it's fun.

Hi Rae! Glad to be here & learning from you! I admire your style & your thiftiness! It's wonderful to see that it's possible to live below one's means & look greatI I vote for #4, but then I'd better add that I have a strong bias in favor of olive green. (I have an olive leather jacket, my glasses are olive, I have an olive leather skirt, olive hat, olive Bakelite bangle, etc.)

After viewing what you have, I say leave it alone. My favorite option is #2, and it is something between what you already have in 8 and 9.

ETA: the reason I didn't pick #4 is not because it doesn't look good on you, it's because I personally don't like that color although I can't figure out why. In all respects it should be a nice, rich color. Right now I am going through a major love of dirty beige and mauve colors even though they are not flattering.

Rae, I love the green and think it is different enough from your citron jacket to play differently. The leather jacket has such a different style and feel - and wow, the fit is spectacular on you! What a fantastic find.

What a terrific way to show us, too! Very helpful.

The camel is definitely not SSB on you, but I feel that it reads so neutral that you need pattern or another color next to your face to inject some energy. If you were a scarf gal, you would wear a leopard print scarf -- but you aren't.

I don't equate olive with citron, so I think that will add a lot of possibilities. I leave it to you to imagine it with your dresses, skirts, pants, and jeans.

The cognac looks like the same family as #8, and the red looks like it is in the same family as #7; maybe it is my eyes that I just don't see it with #4 and #5; my bias?

I have found that the only added colors that don't work for me are the ones that I can't wear next to my skin because they are too vivid, too muddy, too cool, or whatever. Ultimately, they feel *off* and really don't play well with the rest of my wardrobe. I recently bought a citron blouse, a color I've never worn, and found it goes with virtually everything, same with my red orange jacket.

Rae, First, I think you could easily leave it as is for at least a season to enjoy a soft neutral classic (it does look really good on you as is). If you want to dye it, I also really like the olive green - I see it as super useful in that muted tone - next would be the red for me -- your current red jackets are not similar in style so I don't think it would be a duplicate either.

Your mock ups are a great visual aid Rae and as soon as I saw the colours, I completely gravitated to #4 - the olive green. Love it! It's completely different than citron so I don't consider it a duplicate colour at all. You already have jackets in red shades and also in the camel/brown family.

I am here to beg opinions on dye colors again! The consensus last time was that a deep berry red color would be best - now I am having second thoughts because I have three red toppers as it is - not that awesome berry red, but still. The second choice was the sour olive color in 4, but I realized I have my bright citron yellow/green jacket, too. Then I thought a nice, saturated cognac would be good, but I do have my medium brown jacket.

On the one hand, riffing within my signature colors is a good thing, because it will help items mix and match well. On the other hand, going outside the norm (i.e. possibly leaving the jacket camel or going for a totally different color) would widen the variety of looks I can create. On the other hand, the non-signature colors like camel won't look as flattering on me.

What are your thoughts on colored additions to your capsules? Do you try to stay within your set colors, or do you like to aim for variety first and foremost?

#1 is the jacket as-is.
#2-4 are Photoshop mockups
#5-9 are my current colored jackets in similar colors
