FWIW, I like the length with both jeans and the dress too! I think it's flattering on you.

Tee hee, I can see that it's not a clear cut decision here - and if it was, I wouldn't have that feeling in the bottom of my stomach of uncertainty. I mean, this is a good thing - everyone has their viewpoints and their merits, and I thank you all for sharing them with me.

At this time, I think I'm going to wear it as-is for awhile: there is a 1 year warranty on the jacket, so I might just wear it like this for a year and see how I like it. If I really dislike it before that time, I will just shorten it - or maybe I'll do so in a year (this will give me some time to find a second one, if I so choose) - and it'll be fun to have a "new" jacket.

I am very afraid of boxy things that are not flowy, and that's definitely been keeping me from the "very cropped" look that a lot of shorter jackets have - thanks for validating that for me, Echo.

I've refrained from commenting on the other threads, but I do NOT think this jacket is too long. By shortening it, you would be trying to make it into something it isn't. It isn't designed to be a short jacket, and I think it looks "off" when folded under to simulate it. This jacket is cut to fit your curves, and only with the length can it properly do that. There is a reason so many cropped things are boxy; that silhouette tends to work better with a cropped length. Fitted, IMO, works better with a longer length.

FWIW, I LIKE the way this jacket looks with dresses and pants. I think that because it is fitted, it doesn't look sloppy the way a looser, longer jacket might. I think that if you want a cropped jacket, this isn't the one. But a cropped jacket isn't what you chose. You chose a longer, more fitted jacket. To change it simply because it fits other people's eyes isn't doing yourself any favours, I don't think.

I'm so glad that you love this jacket...it looks so good on you!

I am in hearty agreement with your decision to wear as-is for a while. I have in the past immediately taken something to get it altered only to find that I changed my mind later and could have worn it at the original length/size. I have also had a couple of occasions where a manufacturing defect showed itself after about a month of wear, making the money spent on the alterations useless. So definitely wear it as-is for a while and give yourself time to decide how you want to wear it and how you'll be most comfortable with it.

Terrific with jeans. I would choose a much shorter one for your flared skirts and dresses, though and not try to have one do both.
Of course I did just the opposite and specifically got a longer-ish jacket for both, because wearing with pants was priority, and pencil skirts next, and my conceit is that pencil skirtsm which I ofte wear with a more surrendered waist look, can get away with a longer jacket than fit-and flare styles.
For you I would so like to see the shorter length because it would be so fab to keep your hourglass silhouette.

Hmm, yup, new zipper. Bahhhh... I don't want to shorten the sleeves. I think I'll just wear this around and see how I love it (I love it already!!! Don't want to give it back!!!!)

I really love this on you, in all pictures. Thistle is right that it may be a little too long with the flared skirt... but I'm not sure. I think the length is offset by the way it narrows in at the waist.

Plus... you never know. The trend in jacket lengths could go longer again very soon, and then the jacket would be perfect. Does an inch shorter mean a whole new zipper?

I think I'm going to wear it as-is for now, and then shop around for someone to shorten it about 1" for me.

My favourite tailor does leatherwork as well, and has a full 5/5 on Yelp - I may ask him how much he will charge for the shortening, knowing that Danier wants to charge me $50.

It looks very fab with all three outfits here. I like it at the 1" shorter length in your other post, too. What are your thoughts? It might be worth wearing it a bit as-is to see how you feel and then decide whether or not you'd like to shorten...

I think this jacket looks nice with the jeans and the layers. I don't really notice that extra length when it is open either - hmm, so many tough decisions.
