Your leather trench is GORGEOUS.

I just love long toppers, but have a few shorter ones too, as I enjoy the possibilities of variety.

Yes, Angie! I can relate — NAS items are always a little tricky for me because it will be months before I can wear them. It’s funny that I was unsure about the plaid Veronica Beard blazer but have worn it several times already (including yesterday, and when Jamie saw it he remarked that he really likes it). The addition of the hoodie dickey made the blazer mesh with my casual style very well. I now actually find myself wanting to add a little more red to my wardrobe! I’m a bit more surprised that the Bernardo jacket, which seems more predictably me, has not yet been worn. But as your remarks about your red coat indicate, it’s early in the season.

I want to add that I have not worn this NAS coat yet - three and a half months later. I have no intention of returning it! It has not been cold enough yet. It is now, and I will wear it soon. It's my perfect maxi red dressy coat.

I wouldn't rush to get rid of short jackets that you like but just aren't in the mood for right now. On the other hand, I would not reject Angie's help in editing my closet. On the other other hand, I don't think there is enough tea and cake in the world to revive Angie if she saw my collection .

I'm so glad you kept both leather coats! I can see that they have different functions and they are both really smashing on you.

I feel like in your previous edit over the summer, there was some degree of talking yourself into the Bernardo going on. (Like, discussion of why it should work if that makes sense.) But I agree that it might be good to revisit that wardrobe category now that it is wearing season.

I am not feeling my shorter pieces right now. I'm so disgusted with my weight right now, and I'm in physical therapy again for my shoulder so the weight isn't getting burned off at the gym, and and and
Long story short, give me something a bit longer and a bit loose right now.

Jenni, editing during the summer is good, but I think it’s not a bad idea to revisit my edits now during the actual wearing season.

I have no regrets about what I let go this summer, but now that cooler weather is upon us, it’s really telling to see what I actually reach for. I am not very hasty about getting rid of jackets.

However, it seems l did cull a red patterned scarf and now I’m sorry I did, since I seem to have rediscovered red with the VB blazer. It was a cheap scarf (maybe $10 from Charming Charlie’s) but still, sigh. That’ll teach me to edit a color out of my wardrobe. LOL

Angie says she would help you edit them? But you had 2 threads on editing them only 3 months ago, I just checked back on your posts. I wouldn’t usually be likely to change my mind in only 3 months on what I had decided- on the odd item yes, but not on a whole category. I can make a quick decision on the odd item that I’m suddenly over, often after having had some doubts about it for a while, but not on whole categories- sounds like a recipe for regretting the edits and/or unwanted churn to me.

I do like short jackets myself in many ways. I actually find them flattering as they show my waist - but I don’t think they are fashion forward more classic,

I haven’t worn shorter jackets at all this fall - including one I bought during NAS too . I simply don’t find them as psychologically comfortable ( same reasons you mentioned ) and often aren’t as warm and “cozy” as a longer jacket . ( I don’t mean fuzzy- cozy , obviously but it was the best word I could come up with ) . No comment from me on keeping vs returning , as you prefer a much larger wardrobe than I do , but if you haven’t even worn it yet ......

You look amazing in the longer jackets/ coats and they in turn look great with full length boot cuts, flares, wide legs...so it's natural you'd feel a turn towards those I think!

But I also echo Angie's suggestion to go through the short jackets with footwear etc. in view. You'll be wearing at least some of them this fall and winter -- now's the time to figure out which!

I thought about further. Since the trendy parts of your style are shoes, hair, accessories and toppers, you’ll definitely want to do a thorough assessment of those short leather jackets

Kelly, I just saw your response in your post — I’m thrilled that I served as inspiration for you to get that jacket because it looks perfect on you!

I do like how it looks on me, but it just happens that with the particular outfits I’ve worn, I’ve wanted to wear the other options instead. I should really not be hasty, as we are only a couple of weeks into true jacket weather (being away for a week in Morocco stoke a week of jacket weather from me, LOL).

Angie, I would love it if you could help me weed through my closet! I definitely feeling the longer jackets rather than all of my motos at the moment, but I don’t see that as a reason to jettison the old ones. I know that my mood can shift. And I always tend to wear a new item a lot when I first get it, so the pendulum may swing back and I may feel a bit more variety in silhouette soon enough. But still, your point about another jacket review is a good one.

Me! I replied in my thread about the state of the moto in your closet. Lol. I do really like my longer toppers--all cardigans but something about the length is very appealing as opposed to shorter jackets/cardigans. The Bernardo works for me with bootcuts/dresses but probably only because it's the only one I have that suits my every day style--not too edgy and not too precious.

In the Finds below are the jackets I have purchased since NAS in July. I’ve already worn the VB plaid blazer a couple of times (that’s a lot for a blazer for me).
The sporty hooded stretch blazer and the dark brown/black Peruvian Connection long leather jackets have become instant workhorses. And the Alice & Olivia leather trench has become a go-to for dressier outfits (worn out to dinner). Yes, I ended up keeping both because the A&O is dressier and the PC is such an easy go-with-anything piece that doesn’t feel too precious.

The Bernardo jacket with the leopard accent still has tags on. I’ve started to wear it twice and ended up changing into the PC jacket instead. I just seem to be feeling the longer jackets and blazers lately. I like the Bernardo jacket but I’m wondering if I should return it. I’m always reluctant to let go of something as good-looking, well-made, and well-fitting as this jacket, but I don’t want too much stuff in my closet that isn’t getting worn.

Maybe it’s because I already have a bunch of shorter moto style jackets and I’ve kind of burnt myself out on that style over the last 5-10 years? Also I wonder if it’s because I’m a little self-conscious of the extra weight I’m carrying now and prefer to disguise it under a longer jacket? And there is also something I’m feeling at the moment about the cool almost 70s-ish vibe of a longer topper.

Any thoughts? Is anyone else feeling a move away from shorter jackets?
