Bijou - thank you. You're such a sweetheart. I am a blazer seeking creature. There's always something I'm hunting for. I also lemming others, Parsley turned me onto HL. I'm so glad I was able to find some before the designer changed. I just follow the Oscar Wilde quote, "Steal, and steal boldly!!"

Angie - thank you.
Lisa - I think it will be a workhorse for play. It will just work w the steamer attachment!!
Firecracker - well you know...if one is good 2 is definitely better. I miss the old HL. The tailoring and construction was swoon worthy. You could appreciate that even more than I. But those jackets are some of my most treasured items.

Brooklyn- don’t you love trans seasonal fabrics!! It’s a true 4 seasons weight which is exciting.

Looks great Gryffin. I have a wool/viscose jacket but it’s Le military not Le smoking. I find the weight works well in Autumn and Spring, and also in cooler weather with some added layering. Enjoy!

I've admired those Helmut Lang jackets, too. Such classic pieces, and now you have a long tuxedo jacket to round out your capsule. It looks and sounds like it will be really useful and earn its keep. Thanks for the thoughtful review!

Really nice jacket, gryffin, and I can absolutely see this on you . Too bad about the packing job - not befitting a jacket of that calibre. Hope it's everything you need it to be this season !

Sterling - thank you! I am happy to have it. Just tried it on again and the proportions are so perfect!
karen - that's a fantastic jumpsuit!! Just awesome soooooo elegant! What accessories will you wear? Will you need a topper? If so what were you planning?
Style Fan - thank you. Equipment does have tuxedo pants to match but it's an 11" rise and 34" length. I'm not sure that work work, also they are wide legs, and they would need major hemming. I have many pieces that have a different fabrication, the VB scuba leggings, leather leggings that would not look like a mismatched suit. My Vince striping pants are close but I'm not sure if I would like it together, I'm a stickler for either matching or not matching IYKWIM.
Gigi - exactly. It's all about architecture - mine and the jackets. It has to litierally be a perfect fit.
Suz - yes it's exactly my style. I almost didn't buy it because to be honest, it looks kinda meh on the model, but the proportions looked dead on to me. That's exactly what I found, I think the jacket looks much better on me than it does on the website.
Joy - exactly it would be perfect, a wink and a smile! That is one way I definitely love formal wear, the other is all out glam, ok edgy, casual, I love it all!! LOL!

Gryffin, thank you for the great review. It would go well with the Kut Diana tuxedo jeans with a leather "stripe" that I am wearing today. They are a dark blue denim with a mid to high rise. Less fitted on me (and less high rise) than the model. I am wearing mine with a black EF tee and black blazer, pewter booties and bag. I do have a tuxedo jacket by Nygaard that is several years old and matching tuxedo trousers.

Wonderful review as always, Gryffin. I'm sorry that the fabrication isn't perfect, but it will definitely stand in until you find one better, which might take a number of years. This is very "you" and it will work seamlessly into your closet.

Lovely! Too bad about the poor packing.

Blazers and jackets are so personal. You have to find just the right cut to create the look you want, and it has to work well with your body shape--which can feel like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes! I'm glad you found one that makes you happy.

Well October is here which means the holidays are almost upon us. I have been looking for a tuxedo blazer for years. I finally found the HL gala cropped tuxedo jacket about 5 yr ago. I have it with and without leather sleeves, the solid wool bracelet sleeve version is more formal and perfect with dresses. The leather sleeve version is just plain fun. Although it looks good with pants, I've wanted a long tuxedo jacket for ages, especially one that can also be worn closed like a tuxedo dress. Enter the Equipment Quincy jacket which a great piece. Light four seasons material, cute star lining, classic long shawl matte satin collar. The shoulders and sleeves are nicely fitted with a boyfriend body. The body is straight, if you are looking for a fitted body, this is not that jacket. Plenty of room to wear it closed which looks surprising great despite the one button style. The only drawback is the fabric a wool/vicose blend - it wrinkles. It came out of the box a crumpled mess and did not hang out well (btw bad packing job nordstrom at more than $500 (was on sale at $396 it's back up to $528) it came off the hanger folded into quarters. A rebuy came a little better but with a deep crease near the pocket, what's the deal with that? It was sent in a box that accepted a hanger but was just in platic. (A hanger, some tissue and more plastic would have made a huge difference) Anyway the fit and style of the jacket is exactly what I wanted, so I tried the steamer. The fabric actually steamed out just fine but I imagine I will need to steam it after most wears. Although no jacket of this price point should have such poor quality fabric, it's otherwise such a great piece, I'm will to take a chance on it, and at least I got the sale price. I've tried on, without exaggeration, about 15 tuxedo style jackets over the last few years and this is the first one that makes the grade. If you are a slim rectangle, who wants to loook like you grabbed your man's tuxedo jacket but just so much better, this might be the jacket for you TTS. Do not size up, you could size down for a slimmer fit. I plan on wearing this over dresses, buttoned over leather leggings, and with pants and jeans.
