I agree that for it to work the t shirt has to be loose fitting and on the shorter side (hip length or higher). If the tee is too tight you will get a sort of peplum effect happening with the shirt. It can also work with a sleeveless tee - kind of makes it look like a vest. But a couple of years ago, I bought a navy and white stripe (what else?) T from Joe Fresh. And soon after, watched a runway clip, in which they showed it worn over a white shirt-- with the shirt sleeves rolled up (the neat J Crew way, not the sloppy L'Abeille default way) so that the cuff/roll was just below the end of the T shirt sleeve. Looked pretty sharp. </p> <p>Myself, I have layered over shirts with looser fitting T shirt styles, works better at a short or cropped length.
