I like the Nordstrom BP tanks or camis. They are stretchy and long and come in a rainbow of colors. A tall friend recommended them as staying put and inexpensive.

Oh, I see what you're saying. That makes a lot more sense. Thanks, Diana

I should clarify that when I said non-stretch tees/tanks, I meant "without spandex," but it's still stretchy because it will be made of jersey knit fabric (as opposed to woven). Think like the fabric that basic tee shirts are made of.

Hmm, I'm not sure about a non-stretchy option. I wear a 28J bra (28M in US sizing.) Non-stretchy clothes either are too tight on my bust or huge on my waist. Stretch is what lets the fabric pop back to waist size and not be a tent. I appreciate the suggestion, but non-stretchy tops don't fit my body unless specially tailored, and I don't think they'll layer well if they're big enough to go over my bust. Thank you though! I might try sewing a stretchy one to make the torso smaller and keep the bust size.

I have this issue also! 13" difference between waist and hips here, and a high waist like Mo. I agree with her that things with less spandex are actually better because the spandex has too much memory and always wants to pop back to its smallest size. A 100% cotton tank or tee will conform to your shape a bit better.

If you are handy with a needle and thread another option is to cut vents in the tanks. Basically open the side seams for a few inches and hem the two sides back up.

I get this too with layer tanks. My Yummy Tummy one is the worst for 'creep'. I can only wear it if the bottom is anchored with a good tucking in. I found one, that was a soft 100% cotton, did not have the issue that stretchy fabrics did. Unfortunately, the dryer ate a strap a few weeks ago and I have been hunting for the perfect replacement ever since. :(
I also have about a foot difference in waist to hip, and a high waist to boot. Sigh.

EDIT: so my advice would be to avoid stretch fabrics in the knit and it might stay put better :)

As someone who runs very, very cold (I wear long pants in August all the time) I've tried wearing tanks under my shirts to make them warmer. "Clever," I say, "I'll be warmer and no one will be the wiser." And yet, this rarely works. I have a number of tank tops too tight to worn by themselves which I use for layering, but they inevitably ride up my waist and add bulk. I'm thinking if I bought them even clingier, they might stay where I put them, but I also wonder if my massive waist to hip difference means that they will always creep onto my waist. For reference, there's about a foot of difference there. Thoughts?
