Thanks for the report back, Nicole. Which colours did you like best on you?

By double zip, I mean “two-way” zip (not reversible). I’ve found this style feature flattering on all body types. The un-zipped bottom part gives added waist –definition. Even if you don’t use this feature all the time, it’s a nice-to have. I personally would not consider a body warmer without a double-zip feature – for men neither. Once you’re use to that look, it’s hard to go back.

Body warmers are a good option for those that tend to overheat too (to your point). I’ve popped many male and female clients in them. I have the opposite challenge – they do not keep me warm enough. When it’s cold, I need covered arms too. I’ll have to enjoy body warmers on others

OK, so I finally made it into Sears to try on that Lands End puffer vest. It was very cute, and very inexpesive ($40). The diamond stitching detail was problematic for me though. The largest diamonds were right over my chest area, making my chest the focal point. I wouldn't say it made the girls look bigger--but it just drew the eye right to my chest. I've spent the last 27 years trying to draw attention away from my chest, so I just couldn't see myself being comfortable in the vest.

BUT--I will suggest that anyone who is looking for a puffer vest, check this one out. The diamond stitching did create a visual waist -- which is very difficult to do with any puffer type outerwear. I fit into a medium, so it might not fit those of you who have trouble finding sizes that are small enough. Although, it does come in a petite XS.

I really liked the colors in real life too. My friend Shannon said she did not mind the diamond pattern on my chest, and she thought I should have bought it. But we all know how far out of our comfort zone we are willing to go.

I am going to go to Sears and try it on...see how it fits.

Why do you prefer me in grey, teal or berry? Do you think the lighter colors will wash me out? I'm not sure if I like it in any colors besides ivory and driftwood. The grey is okay, but it's a little too metallic--reminds me of a robot. The teal seems a little garish--maybe better in person.

What do you mean by two way zipper? Zips up from the bottom and down from the top? Or do you mean "reversible"? Why would that be a deal breaker for you?

I do think a vest will be very practical here. WE have plenty of days where it's cold, but sunny and a regular jacket is just too much. Or if I'm spending the day running errands and know I'll be in and out of the car and in and out of stores.

Thanks Anne! I appreciate your attention to detail. Quite right, NOT in fleece unless you're on the slopes.

Soooo, I actually like “body warmers” as I call them. (Does anybody remember that?) They can look hip and fab.

I prefer the grey, teal and berry for you Nicole. Does it have a two-way zip? That would be the deal breaker for me.

Green--I know what you mean about the impracticality of cream. I was at my son's baseball game the other day and was talking to another mom. She had on a white vest and the entire inside of the collar was stained with makeup. It looked awful, and even though I don't wear foundation, I am afraid of getting anything too light--especially on the inside of the coat.

I think the issue with tan and beige is that it's not a flattering color on most women. It can drain you of color, and look drab.

I also like the vest. I like the driftwood color. Does everyone here hate tan or camel? That is another thread. Ivory just seems so impractical to me, I don't know how everyone keeps those ivory jackets clean.
Back on track, the vest does not look frumpy at all which is what I had usually associated with landsend.I think those stores are catching on and making more flattering clothes.
If you get it, please post.

I actually like both colors you picked out. The driftwood is like a light gold. It has some dimension, so I don't think it would wash you out (plus you have reddish hair that will contrast as well). I think you should at least try it. It does look more tailored, the puffs aren't really big.

I like it. I think it's rather nice, for a down vest. I also like the ivory color.

It's funny - just today I popped into Eddie Bauer, which is very similar to Land's End. They also cut their clothes a little "roomier" but I'm a little "roomier" these days too, I thought maybe I'd find jeans that fit. I tried on a pair that actually looked nice - nice dark rinse and they had a pretty decent rise. I might go back and get them.

I think it's cute, too. The key will be in the fit. And I like Land's End, too. I don't have anything from them but I appreciate their preppy styling.

Hey! I have to step up here to defend Lands End. I don't think they get enough credit. I have their baby cable cashmere sweaters and the quality is amazing.

I did notice this vest in their catalog and liked it - didn't they have something layered under it too?

I know the sentiment for Land's End isn't very positive around here. The cuts tend to be a little too big, unfeminine and sporty. So please keep an open mind. I really like this puffer vest (in driftwood or maybe ivory):
