I tie at the back. If you feel there is too much of the tie you could always shorten it... Depends on how many times you want to wrap it around your ankle. They are lovely shoes I hope you start to get some wear out of them:)

I would tie them on the backs. You might want to try on the sides too. Don't cut the laces! They add so much. Cute shoes!

Great suggestions, thanks!

I decided not to wear them today because I'm going to buy new running shoes and would rather wear something easy-on, easy-off. I'll give it a try tomorrow!

Great shoes! I have several pairs of these that are similar and never thought about how I tied them until just now. I've always tied them like I did my toe shoes back in the day:)

I wrap the ties several times around my ankle, and then tie in a bow on the inside of my ankle. I think the multiple wraps are part of what make this kind of shoe so charming. I like Mo's idea of tying the bow on the back or you could just tie in a bow or knot at the inside ankle and them just tuck the ends under the wrapped part.

Since I can't add pics to a Realtime post, I'm adding a few pics in a separate post for you, Janet.

I used to tie mine with a bow on the side just above the ankle bone - the bone seemed to keep it from sliding down too much, and the side bow was kind of unexpected and fun.

These look lovely on you! I would just tie them in the way you do when you wear pants (whatever way keeps them on your feet) and go for it! They look so elegant and summery--wear those babies!

I wonder if you could do something to the ribbon at the spot where you tie it to make it not slippery? Maybe some clear nail polish would give it some traction?

The espadrilles are sweet. I have the same issue with these kind of shoes. Maybe a bow would help.

I've had these shoes for at least 4 years, and I love how they look, but I'm a bit flummoxed about how to tie them.

I've always just avoided the issue by wearing them with pants, so the laces don't show, but that's not much fun, is it?

One problem is that when I try to tie them up my leg a little, the ribbons slide right down, so I'm thinking of shortening the ties so there's not so much, and wrapping them just once at the ankle. What do you think? To knot or to bow? Front or back? Im thinking either knot in front or bow in back, but I'm hesitant to cut the ties and commit. However, right now I just have a cute pair of shoes I'm not wearing!

The style still seems to be popular, so I thought I should try to wear them. Suggestions welcome!
