I can't even wear cotton tees for exercise anymore, though they are fine for regular wear. I like viscose wovens, too. I have one sporty luxe top that has a poly front and I never wear it without an undershirt. I do wear blends. Fabrication in the technical sense refers to the cutting, shaping, and assembling of something, not its content or composition. </p> <p>And I totally agree that there are a host of urban myths about fabric content. Comfort is, of course, relative, but most people are surprised to learn that manufactured cellulose-based fabrics like rayon/viscose/lyocell/Tencel/modal are actually more absorbent than cotton so, theoretically, could be more comfortable in hot weather than 100% cotton. And polyesters can be treated to increase their "wickability" so the fabric draws moisture away from the skin and increases the rate of evaporation. That's why much of today's athletic wear is made of "technical" polyester. No advice on natural vs synthetics; I'm just a word person. </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/labels-in-garments-and-summer#post-1658989 Wed, 11 May 2016 20:56:21 +0000 always trying 1658989@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>The more skin we can bare the less important it is to be concerned about the fabric content of garments.&nbsp;You folks say fabrication, but I think you really mean fabric content. fabrication means falsehood or untruth--as in the act of fabricating a story.</p> <p>anyhow,one can wear shorts with spandex, a tank with polyester and, or spandex, and be comfortable.&nbsp; It is quit another to have most of legs covered in ankle pants and an elbow sleeve length top with those fabrics on a hot day.&nbsp;When I find things on &nbsp;line that say cotton it does not mean 100% cotton.&nbsp; Often there is spandex or its equivalent in them.&nbsp; Another thing I am finding is that it is getting difficult to find fabric content labels in things, and&nbsp;if they are there&nbsp; they are&nbsp;difficult to read.&nbsp; </p> <p>Zappos has some 100% cotton that is labeled as such, and most of the linen seems to be just linen on all the sites I have been searching.&nbsp; Tencel and loycell seem to be gaining popularity too. I am still searching and making a few purchases.&nbsp; should have some up for posting soon.</p> <p>What I wear around the house and some other activities is ok to go with legs bared above knees, etc. But I do need to cover more of me sometimes and have to buy carefully.</p> <p>+</p>
