OK, I am the epitome of the not-trending person, but to me they don't look quite like what's going on now. Would you be willing to have the legs tapered ? Or not worth it?

I'm not saying you have to--I am not the fashion police on pants.
it more depends on whether you're after a certain look. If I had those pants and they fit well through the waist and hips and especially if planning to wear I would taper them in whatever way worked best with my leg shape, because then they'd be almost customized and would scrunch a bit over heels (or flats) and it'd be less painful and cheaper than shopping around for another pair. Also, are they cotton? That's really good since a lot of tracky pants are poly. And if trying to maintain a "cool" meaning for hot weather, vibe, then you'd do less severe taper so they'd still be breezy.

I'm interested in being educated on this subject, though. And of course using as-is is the easiest route, and I can relate to that.

I had a pair very similar to these - I mostly just wore them around the house. Then I lost weight and they were literally falling off, so away they went.

I'm wearing a brown pair that looks just about like these. Drawstring and all. Fond of the drawstring just because with the looser leg it says summer to me. I think of this style as beach pants whether in linen or cotton, and I have to have a pair in my summer wardrobe always. I bought this pair two weeks ago at BR, so they can't be tooooo dated. I'd call them summer timeless. Like bikinis, beach towels and flip flops.

I vote taking it off and maybe stitching the openings shut if they are too visible otherwise.

Good question! Knotting into a bow looks a bit silly here. Maybe I could take it off

I like them too. They look like perfect relaxed summer pants. What are you doing with the drawstring? Nothing?

I think I got these when I was 13 or 14. I didn't wear them much because back then it was extreme bootcuts -very tight around the thighs- what were on the rage and I was a teen. I am now 25 and still have them in my closet. They are very comfy and well made, and would have been perfect for this last summer they went unworn. I'm just not sure whether they are dated or they could work with this new relaxed flares trend. What do you think? I would wear them as styled and with casual strappy sandals.
