I think they are cool, Donna. Since you probably won't be wearing them for the summer anyway, how about holding them until the fall and reconsidering then?

Firecracker; the pants are somewhere between a crepe and a flannel, but they drape fairly well. It's not just snugness in the waist, but my vanity requires my weight to be below a certain point for me to feel they look okay. I DO have a daughter, but college cafeteria food has her coming back from freshman year weighing more than me and bigger as well, but my waist has been smaller than hers for quite a few years. Hopefully, by the end of summer she will be down to her regular weight with only one chin.
It's hard to tell what the fabric is like, but the silhouette looks so fab. IF they are a drapey fabric, I vote keep. If they are a stiffer twill weave, I vote donate, as that fabrication is not as on trend, and to me, it would not be as comfortable (even if the pants fit in the waist). Just my 2 pennies!
ETA: Oh, duh! I see you said wool. Are they a drapy wool, like a crepe, or a thicker wool like a flannel? That would influence my decision, in the directions I indicated.
I like them very much. Could you add some fabric to the button side portion of the waistband and move the button?

I remember pants like that! I had to go up several sizes just to get the waist to button. I'm sure there is a fashion forward way to wear these, but durned if I can figure it out. Do you have a daughter?

The pockets are cut on a slant, and this closes via side buttons. Thus, it is easier to make the waist smaller which I did at one time, but the pocket opening doesn't hang right if I move the buttons over the other way. :( I weigh about the same or less than when I bought them, but it is just distributed differently!
Ok, I love these wool pants cuz they're lined and so outrageous. Most of the time, I can't get into them because the waistband is at my true waist. Which is to say I've owned these Lands End babies for around 25 years old. A quarter of a century. They are old enough for these to be P4s, and now due to size inflation they would be P2s or P0s. I know this photo is fuzzy, but I think it is sufficient to give you an idea of their cut. Should I give these babies the old heave ho, or do you think I can wear them this fall after I lose a half pound so I can keep them buttoned after lunch?

Thank you for being honest.
