I really like the nude sandals, because they lengthen your leg. I like them with both the shorter and longer lengths. I much prefer the slip-on shoes with the shorter length.

Good luck with the washing!

I like the shorter length myself, especially with those strapped nude sandals! That said, I have a pair of black ankle pants I leave at the longer length (right on the ankle bone) and then fold up when I want them shorter. If the hem isn't too narrow it works nicely, especially if you don't mind a little cuff there.

Can anyone stand a couple more photos? I tried them on with my dressy nude sandals. I think I love both lengths! I'm slightly leaning toward the shorter length, but if the weather is warm enough for crops, I won't be wearing dry-clean only clothing. The longer length looks more elegant to me, but I don't consider my typical style "elegant" and don't want to feel the need to come up with a dressier outfit.

I'm also thinking of just washing them and seeing what happens. I have a very short and gentle hand-wash cycle on my front-loader. So maybe they'd shrink up just enough to make this decision for me.

And, I like carambola's idea of just leaving them full-length and folding under once as needed. The roll would definitely stay put!

I think in the pics with more summer/spring style shoes they look great rolled up like in pic 8 on the first set. I think they could be just a bit shorter in that particular pic. The heavier shoes in some of the pics kind of throw me off so personally I think the shoes you wear really matter and they don't need to be heels. Nude flats would be great too.

If they feel as great as they look like they fit, I say keep because the way they feel is so important. Beautiful color too!

I like ankle pants to be ankle pants, not full length pants. I would shorten them per Angie's guidelines, Two Flattering Lengths for Ankle Pants. Since I can't decide which length I prefer for my own ankle pants, I hem them at the longer length (above the top of the ankle) and use temporary hem tape (available at fabric stores or from Amazon) for times when I want to wear them at the shorter length.

If you intend to wash them not dry clean, then I might wash them first before deciding. I just posted a WiW about BR trouser jean that was 1-2 inches too long and I thought I'd have to hem, but after running through the wash/dry cycle twice (my standard practice before hemming anything) they shrunk to PPL. Probably the best PPL I've ever had with any pants, even ones I've had professionally tailored. They also shrunk elsewhere too, so that is another concern, but mostly and most significantly in hem length.

YMMV, these Sloan's are not denim, but who knows? I have the windowpanes and other Sloan's in non-denim; I dry clean all of them so I can't say. I'm only cautioning here if you intend to wash & dry these.

I like them in 6-10 and think you pull off ankle length brilliantly, especially in the shoes with the higher vamp. I vote leave them as is so you have the option to wear full length or turn under once. If they are the same as mine, the hems stay put since the material is quite substantial.

Well, personally, I like the length of 6-10 for an ankle pant. I know I'm in the minority. If you want a crop/capri/not-sure-what-the-difference-is, then I like the length in 4.

For "ankle pants" the length you have in 6-10 works correctly, but it's just not a leg lengthening length. So if ankle pants with flats is what you're after, you can certainly wear that length, you just have to accept that it's not lengthening and is in fact a bit shortening. That is all. You can still wear them, if you like the look :)

Thanks, all. This is giving me a lot to think about. I originally thought I wanted these to be more crop-like, but now I don't think so. I wear at most a 1.5-inch heel; no leg-lengthening tricks here.

Looking at the pics, I thought that the length in 6-10 was a clear winner, but maybe not? I'm new to the short pants world. I avoided the topic last year by wearing skirts, and two years ago I just wore standard, frumpy capris.

I guess I probably like them full length the best...as for rolled, I'm not really sure which length I like best! Miss Indecisive here.

I just got a pair of ankle pants from BR, and I will say that at least in my case (I am short), I felt that heels were necessary to prevent the stumpy look unless the pant legs were rolled up so that the length was maybe 4 inches above the ankle. To wear them as the "regular" ankle pants (hitting just above the ankle), I thought heels were required to avoid stumpiness. Also, I found that wearing a shoe with a low vamp (like your flats) was also very helpful to lengthen the leg. As soon as I switched to booties, my legs became stumps.

Regarding these pants, did you consider buying the petite size or the short inseam at BR? (Sometimes they have short inseams, though they're probably online only.) I think both of those might have been the proper length on you. I am concerned that with shortening the length, there will not be as much taper at the bottom, which creates an unflattering look. If you can buy them at the right length, tapering shouldn't be such an issue. FWIW, I ordered my ankle pants in both the petite and the misses' sizing, and there wasn't much difference in the waist (the rise is about 1/4" less in the petite); the difference was predominantly in the length. The pants I ordered were the twill, not the Sloan—not sure if that matters.

Hm well I think if you were to wear them as crops with flats the way you've shown here, you're going to have to be at peace with them being leg shortening. A bit of heel would go a long way here, but I'm not sure if that's an option for you. With flats I think #3 might work better, with heels either would work but I like the more cropped #4 look with heels myself.

I finally got to try on a pair of BR Sloan fit ankle pants, and was surprised at how long they are. They came home with me anyway, because they feel fantastic. During the drive home and days afterward, I started feeling like I should return them, because full-length pants are not on my list for spring/summer...and I'm really trying to stick to my list! They've been in my car waiting to be returned, but I pulled them back inside today because I really love the way they fit and feel on me. HOWEVER, if full-length is the "best" look for me in these, I will be ruthless and return them.

I rolled under the full amount of the hem, if that makes sense. I did once, twice, and then three times (a lady).

Pics 1-2: full length
Pic 3: full length on one leg, rolled under twice other leg
Pic 4: full length/rolled under three times (I thought this was the best option IRL but it doesn't look good in photos! Very stumpifying.)
Pic 5: rolled under twice
Pics 6-10: rolled under once

Thoughts?
