Because the heel looks right in your current size. I'd worry that a 1/2 size down would just make your heel hang over the edge. I ended up sizing up 1/2 size to make sure I had enough room for my heel. But I have long toes so I didn't have the peep toe problem, in fact my toes often hang over the edge in sandals. My toes show a bit more than yours, but they're definitely not all the way to the end. My toes are never quite in the right spot in a peep toe, but I feel like mine fit me perfectly. I wonder if once you wear the shoes, the front will stretch, your foot will move forward, and your toes will end up showing more. Your heel is all the way to the end, so it could move forward a little without a problem since the back is adjustable. I don't think it looks odd the way it is, though.
