Una -- I see what you mean by the proportions and drape. Although the fabric I think doesn't lend itself to a drapier cut.

I was leaning toward the beige one, since I don't have anything that color, but what I decide has become a moot point right now -- I've come up against a rather large amount of unexpected expenses, so I basically am SYC for the next year or two :/

I am glad to see this on you, because it caught my eye when Angie posted as well. I prefer the charcoal, but to be honest I am not in love with the shoulder and waist fit in proportion to each other. I would like to see it hang a bit more and also not have such a wide V tapering in. That could just be the IT in me. For some reason I expected it to be a longer drapier cut. Anyway will be interested to know what you decide!

unfrumped - I haven't tried it with other things, but I have a few I'm planning in my head :)

Suz - That's interesting you picked up on the retro-boho-feminine thing. As Angie mentioned, this blazer is reflects the "Old Cathy Who Loves Boho Stuff" (and still wears boho occasionally). I hear you about the beige -- not one of my colors either.

Kelly - I can totally see you in the jacket; I suggest sizing up if you try. And it is a great layering piece for our climate, that's for sure!

Anna, Adelfa, Ariadne - More gray votes -- thanks for the input!

fuzzylogic - yeah, the lighting settings were a bit off in those photos. I'm still waffling!

Angie - Old Cathy likes to make an appearance every now and then Thanks for the input on the size!

El Cee - Thanks, I'm having a hard time deciding :)

I love the jacket and have a slight preference for the tea version (but both are nice on you). I agree that the sizing on the tea version is better.

I prefer the tan because it brings out "Old Cathy Who Loves Boho Stuff". It has charcoal and red in it - which makes all the difference.

Grey colour way is fab too. Perhaps a little more expected for your newer hard-edge style. Either shade is wonderful - and the size of the tan is good.

Hi cciele! I like the way the peplum detailing defines your waist! I'm not sure either colour really makes you pop though. You seem to have warm tones to your complexion(?? Can be difficult to tell with lighting etc) so I would favour the tea coloured one. Let us know what you decide!

I'm so glad you posted, Cathy. I swooned when I saw this on Angie's picks. I came SO close to ordering it myself but wasn't sure if my shoulders would be sized out of it or not. In terms of color, I prefer the grey on you. I'm not 100% sure about the peplum-like bottom which reads a little romantic/softer despite the modern stripes. I think this paired with some of your edgier pieces could be really cool. It looks like it would be great for summer in our climate. Come to think of it, I remember seeing you post some WIWs with some floaty tops with pencil skirts so this might really work for you (as opposed to why I didn't think it would work for me.) I have a hard time separating the two.

Hmm. I'm not sure, Cathy. I would love to hear your own thoughts about it. For some reason it is reading a little more retro-boho-feminine than your usual style so that's what is making me wonder. And I don't know what I think of the stance on you. I do like the chevron detailing and I quite like how it looks opened. I think I prefer the grey, but that may simply be because I can't wear the beige myself so have a visceral response to it.

The beige version really looks good! It seems to go great with your coloring and contrasts with the jeans.
What do you think when you try it with various things you might wear?

In Angie's Nordstrom roundup of black and gray items, she selected the Free People Textured Stripe Linen Blend Blazer. I've actually had my eye on a lighter colorway, not knowing it came in gray! So I decided to order both to see how they worked.

The gray one is a warmer shade of charcoal than expected; the size I ordered was too small.

The tea combo has a shade of beige I would usually avoid (soul-sucking, perhaps?).

So, my YLF advisers, what do you think?
- Style: Does it work or should I go for a different type of casual blazer?
- Color: If the style works, which color do you think looks best?
- Size: Should I try a size up?

1. Gray version
2. Tea version, unbuttoned
3. Tea version, buttoned
4. Tea version, side view, buttoned
5. Tea version, back view, buttoned
6. Probably a better color representation than 2-5

(Please excuse my lack of makeup, hairstyling, or general styling. And hey, look I'm wearing bootcuts! )

Thanks again for your help!
