I think you are right about it being too tomboy/not ladylike enough for my style. Maybe I would do better with something more flowy, like Nancylee's kimono, or Sona's Asian print top, but I am wondering if I wouldn't be able to pull off Asian prints without looking too "ethnic". Somehow it looks better to me on non-Asians, isn't that strange? And I guess Una feels the same way about wearing fake Indian stuff.
