These were among the single most uncomfortable shoe I have ever worn for 4 hours. I'm hoping a good going over with a Mr Clean white sponge will get them in shape to return. I felt every buckle and seam across the top of one foot all day - and for $200, I did NOT feel very fab at all . So disappointing as I loved the look of them. Kept looking down at my feet and wishing they weren't wearing those shoes. I hate trying to buy shoes!!! My success rate is diminishing.

This is a trend that just never felt right for me; I've never even tried them on. But some fabbers wear them really well, and I can imagine they will continue to have a place with those who are committed to the style. If you love them, keep them, Lisa.

Sporty Luxe isn't true me, but I think it might become a new forever category. So I'm a little over it and I don't think the wedge sneaker is the hottest thing since sliced bread anymore, but for sure I'm not giving mine away. And when I need a new pair, I'll be angry if they've stopped making them. Lol. (You hear me, powers that be?!)

It was a trend I never got on board with mostly because of comfort. My feet didn't like the heel.

However, if these are super comfy for you, I say go for it. Wear what you love and make it your own. Besides, I see them fitting in with the sporty trend for sometime to come.

I like them and think they can function a lot like a bootie in more temperate weather. So if black is a color you'll get some good out of, go for it.
I also love, love your metallic ones. They are so much like my Paul Greens that I love--mine have that perforated red leather detail, but just a touch at the tongue and inside; it's not as noticeable, but it's a detail that makes me happy every time I see it. I hope you'll find more opportunities to wear them. They bookend nicely with your hair.

I wish I knew! So for in or out, will have to rely on the fashion mavens.

But, sometimes I try to pay better attention to what looks good on me, plus what are my comfort issues, and what are my target outfits and occasions.

So, if that sneaker hit all the right boxes for my style and feet, I would feel more like wearing it even during waning trends.

That's a little different from wearing just what I like whenever and regardless, and a little different from just following trends. It's more about, certain fashions are just SO right for certain people, and maybe worth keeping up longer, and tweaking the other outfit components.

I think footwear can be one of the most challenging issues because of the need to take care of our feet and that footwear can seriously change your feet for the worse. We don't get too many permanent"body problems" from different styles in tops, pants, and skirts.

it can feel like, wait, I have finally found some shoes that my feet love and that are in style and NOW they're not?

Those shoes have confused me all along! I never got on board with them, and never thought they'd stay as long as they have. Yet every time I turn around I see newer and newer versions on the shelves! To me they seem uncomfortable, so it's always interesting to hear otherwise. So, while I too thought they were on the way out, it seems not.

Truthfully, I just didn't understand the point, though many fabbers looked super fab in theirs.

I try really hard not to be swayed by trends but I I do want to get my money's worth. If you feel less likely to,wear an item because it's gone ratchet, then spend as little on the trend at this time as possible.

It is the Ash style of wedge sneakers that I can see lasting, not the overly sporty ones. I have a pair of the overly sporty ones, and I am definitely feeling they are kind of over, but there have been variations on the Ash style forever. I had a pair in all black without the buckles about 20 years ago, and because they didn't have all the embellishment of some of the recent styles, they would still look current if I had them now. I see the Ash ones in the same way.

I love those shoes. I get that they have sneaker elements, but with the buckles and the trim shape around the ankle, I think they are both refined and edgy as well, with classic cool black leather roots! Basically I'd be more concerned whether they match your personal style, completely aside from trends. I have never really felt comfortable in black leather or other rocker, moto looks, I'm just not cool enough, so these aren't for me. However, I think those fabbers that rock them as a current element reflecting their core style will be able to keep rocking them after the kids are done with wedge sneakers.

Deborah - good question, and the answer here is - not at all. I wear what I like and what I hope looks good on me . I do keep on top of what's going on in the fashion world and like to reflect that. I just don't want to invest $$ in a shoe that will soon be this year's version of Crocs, or something . I don't usually invest in trends - and am surprised to keep seeing these - happily surprised!

Lisa I have a pair like the Ash and I love them. But I don't mind if they are on or out, I like them. I love they give petite me some height and they are a fun casual shoe. The trend never really too off here so I'm on the fringe anyway lol. The question I would be asking is "how important mix it to you to be 'of the moment' and always on trend"?

My gut feeling is that this one is on the way out, to make way for different sneaker looks. OTOH, in this particular version you might almost consider it a classic -- with its tribute to Cons, along with the unique buckles....and IMO the Ash has a nice, more refined shape than some.

I just got the Cons Hi-Ness and called it a day, you know? My reasoning being that I wear those in slightly warmer weather, and then switch to booties when the weather gets cooler. And we have more cooler weather.

Still...I do see the appeal of a leather sneaker if it is truly comfortable. And it is alway nice to get that boost of height.

I can't speak to whether the trend will continue or not, but I also bought one pair of wedge sneakers about two years ago (forest green Ash), and then about a year ago bought the same Ash Genials you just got. I love the Genials especially and wear them fairly frequently. I wear the green ones a little less frequently, but that's probably because the color is more specific and the heel is higher.

So I'll be tagging along on your thread, reading with interest. I really like both of these shoes and plan to continue wearing them this fall and winter, so I hope the trend is still alive for a while.

I'm interested in your thoughts on the staying power of the wedge leather sneaker.

Two years ago I bought the metallic olive/rust pair (and paid way more than I should have: they are some Euro brand, and are the most comfortable shoes ever, and I really liked the way they look so I pulled the trigger). I wear them a few times a year - mostly in fall and spring - with jeans or olive/khaki skinnies. I get a ton of compliments on them and feel super great wearing them, but they don't exactly work with a lot.

I have been eyeing the Ash Black leather wedges below for a year, but they are were included in sales or promotions at The Bay and were a little on the pricey side ($200) to just snap up for fun. Well, I pulled the trigger and brought them home yesterday to play with. It's a lot of money for a fun shoe, and although I really like them and they work with my "look" , I'm not getting a feel for the staying power of this shoe. I'd hate to pay this much and end up on the dying trail of this look.

Everytime I figure the trend has died (or gone "ratchet"- to quote DD) I see yet more styles in higher-end brand offerings. What are your thoughts?
